El Portil is 105 km from the Algarve coast in Portugal. You can get there by road (A49).
It is also 110 km from Seville, a renowned cultural and tourist destination where you can visit its most emblematic sights, such as Torre del Oro, the Giralda and the Cathedral, the largest Christian Gothic cathedral and it holds the Guinness World Record of the church with the largest area. It was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, along with the Alcazar and the Archivo de Indias. It was also recognised as a site of Outstanding Universal Value on 25 July 2010.
Aracena is about 118 km from El Portil, in the heart of Sierra de Huelva, where you can visit the Gruta de las Maravillas, a show cave of extraordinary beauty. Many films were shot inside, such as Tarzan in King Solomon’s Mines or Journey to the Center of the Earth, directed by Henry Levin.
The surroundings of El Portil are striking for the beauty of the protected natural areas: Doñana National Park, Flecha de El Rompido, El Portil pond, Isla Cristina marshlands, etc. There are also significant destinations for cultural tourism: Cape Trafalgar or the Columbian Places, such as La Rábida Friary, Palos de la Frontera and Moguer.
