Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Casa Secreta is situated in the lower part of the village (Barrio Bajo), where the irregular layout is similar to that of an Arab settlement, with narrow streets and whitewashed houses to provide protection from the rigours of the climate.
Mid-19th century, the house belonged to Dr. Emilio Durán, who gave his name to the street. Later it became a bar, then a shop. Modelled on the traditional architecture of a house with patio, Casa Secreta was built with local materials with much consideration given to the direction of the sun. Where the swimming pool is now there was a small garden where the owners grew their own fruit and vegetables. We bought the house 26 years ago and bit by bit, we have restored it to a level of comfort for you to enjoy – however, always respecting its original character.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
El pueblo tiene unos 1300 habitantes y es muy tranquilo. Está formado por tres barrios; en el Barrio Bajo esta nuestra casa. Sus calles son estrechas y sinuosas, con una fuerte pendiente y a muy pocas de ellas se puede acceder con el coche. Este debe dejarse en un aparcamiento publico situado a la entrada, a unos 3 minutos de casa. Este barrio es el que mejor conserva el carácter de sus viendas tradicionales: fachadas blancas, cubiertas con teja árabe y carpintería de madera. La mayoría de sus habitantes son personas mayores muy agradables y hospitalarias; también es habitado por algunas personas de habla inglesa.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
La casa es acogedora, ideal para el descanso y la tranquiliad, pero permite hacer muchas excursiones en el entorno. En el propio valle de Lecrín, en los pueblos próximos, en un entorno muy bonito, se pueden encontrar restaurantes, de cierta calidad y bastantes comercios. La costa tropical, esta a media hora , y la ciudad de Granada, con todos sus monumentos, comercios y actividades culturales, aproximadamente al mismo tiempo. A una hora está la Apujarra y Sierra Nevada, y a un poco más el Cabo de Gata y el Desierto de Tabernas.
