- Thanks for the wonderful welcome. The house is inside a farm surrounded by greenery. The hospitality and advice allowed us to discover a piece of a fantastic country. Thank you
Hoffman is 70, trained as a civil engineer but now farms with peaches and cattle, occasionally consult to businesses and writes novels in his spare time.
Ninell is 60, studied applied mathematics and is now a programme manager in financial services.
We both love art, architecture, good theatre, classical music, reading (fiction, history, science), and travelling to interesting places.
Between us we have four adult children, and may occasionally invite one or two of them to join us.
We are regular exchangers, and enjoy the opportunity Homelink provides to get under the skin of a different culture, as opposed to being tourists, observing from impersonal hotels and tour buses. We will gladly introduce you to the rich cultural diversity of South Africa.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Large colonial style home in countryside, about 18 km (25 min drive) from Pretoria, and about 25 km (45 min drive) from Johannesburg. We are 25 min drive from Oliver Tambo International Airport, 2 hours drive from Sun City and the Pilanesburg Game Reserve, and 4,5 hours drive from the well-known Krugerpark Game Reserve. Next to Rietvlei Nature Reserve (eg cheetah, rhinoceros). Day trips to most popular tourist sites and places of interest are possible. November to May is the best time to visit our area since the weather is excellent; everything is lush and green. Experience authentic SA country living near two major cities.
In case of non-simultaneous exchange our charming guest cottage can accommodate family of 6.
House - single floor/ Second home
Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in a rural area, although the city is only 30 min away.
Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Game drive through Rietvlei Nature Reserve located next to our farm. It accommodates several grazers such as zebra, various antelope such as eland, hartebeest, springbuck, blesbuck and black wildebeest, buffalo and the white rhinoceros. It is also home for a small cheetah family. Since it is relatively small one can do a half day trip and see quite a lot of animals.
