We are a largely retired but still active couple who sold their family home in rural Worcestershire and bought this apartment to downsize and continue our love of travelling. Our two grown up daughters have brought their partners, children & friends regularly to visit & stay but as they have both now moved much closer, we can consider home exchange again (previous Homelink members 2005-08).
We are out walking, running or biking on the Hills on a regular basis and get involved in conservation works with the Malvern Hills Trust. We are also active members of Malvern Theatre, one of the local running clubs and a local gym.
Malvern comprises a number of settlements around the Hills and straddles the counties of Worcestershire & Herefordshire. We live towards the northern end on the edge of Malvern Link. Often it feels like going back into the past with courteous drivers and smiles & greetings when passing total strangers. The age profile of the area tends to be towards the older end with the oft repeated tongue-in-cheek comment that folk move here to die, but fail to do so because of their increased health and fitness from walking up so many hills and breathing so much fresh air!

The rooms were light and spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. Situated in a lovely area to go exploring right from the front door or jump in the car and explore further afield. There was so much beautiful countryside to enjoy and the towns and villages round and about were great fun to visit for food and drink or shopping. A splendid exchange. Highly recommended.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
While we look out directly onto the Malvern Hills, we are also just a few minutes walk away from shops, restaurants, takeaways, pubs and a railway station.
There are four other apartments in the house but it is generally very quiet with only two or three usually being occupied at any one time.
When we moved here after downsizing from our family house, it was with the intention to travel further afield. However, when the Covid pandemic arrived, we realised that the place was a godsend with ever changing far reaching views from our safe elevated second floor location. The balconies and large communal garden allow fresh air and relaxation without ever leaving the property.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We live alongside Link Common, a large area of land cared for by the Malvern Hills Trust. The ground then rises up to the wooded and grazed Hills, the ridge of which runs for approximately 8 miles from north to south. We are towards the northern end with views from our sitting room, kitchen and master bedroom windows to North Hill and Worcestershire Beacon, the latter being the highest point at almost 1400 feet above sea level. The views from the other windows look towards Worcester, the Vale of Evesham and the Cotswold Hills.
You can either walk from the door or drive to one of the many car parking spots on the Hills where part of the uphill climb can be taken out, if required.
We are within easy walking distance of Great Malvern and it’s renowned Priory, theatre (with cinema), Grade II* listed railway station, specialist shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, etc.
Malvern Link railway station is a five minute walk away across the Common. This has frequent trains running towards Ledbury & Hereford in one direction and Worcester, Birmingham & London in the other direction.
There are a number of National Trust properties nearby including Croome Park, Hanbury Hall and our personal favourite Brockhampton.
Both cathedral cities of Hereford and Worcester are a short car drive or train journey away as are many attractive historic market towns such as Ledbury and beautiful villages of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We are planning to visit South Island, New Zealand during the later part of 2023 (part Oct & Nov).
We are also interested in short exchanges at anytime in the UK.
We would leave our property clean and tidy with all basic necessities ready for guests and would hope to find it in a similar condition on our return.
Our granddaughters stay on a regular basis so the apartment is well set up for small children & toddlers.
There are 2 flights of stairs, which we climb without a second thought but could be difficult for someone with mobility issues.
