Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Scotland is both rich in history and beautiful scenery. Ayr itself is set in a scenic and historic location. Within walking distance of town and beach, the house forms part of a Georgian terrace and retains many original features. Ayr is an ideal centre for touring Scotland with road and rail links to Glasgow. There is also a ferry link to Ireland and Prestwick airport has flights to Europe, London and Ireland. The town offers an excellent range of shops and there are many golf courses in the surrounding area. Ayr is famous as the birthplace of the poet Robert Burns who wrote Auld Lang Syne. It is possible to visit the cottage in which he was born.Other sights of local interest include Culzean Castle which is set in beautiful gardens along the coast from Ayr and do not forget the golf courses of Old Prestwick, Royal Troon and Turnburry which are all in close proximity.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Old Georgian property set over two levels. 2 minutes walk to the esplanade and 7 minutes walk to the town centre but house set in a small oasis of an area that you would not believe it was so close to the town with access to shopping and fine dining within walking distance. The front aspect of the house overlooks the towns original church tower that later was used as a lookout for ships entering the harbour to ensure that no one escaped paying taxes. Exit left from the house and you will find the local tennis courts. Rear entry to the property is an enclosed garden that when the weather permits alfresco breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can often hear the waves from the sea front. Moreover, there is close proximity to both the rail and bus stations or indeed with the use of our car, easy access to Scotland's major cities of both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Altogether a quiet relaxed location for as quiet or as active a vacation you want.
Our location is also on the doorstep of the home of Golf with many fine links courses to challenge the best golfer(s).
