Read More...The warmth, luminosity and peace of Jo and John's retreat home is a rare find. You will feel restored and delighted with a stay here! This was our second time there, sadly arriving with Covid which was a dampener on our time. However the great collection of books and art, cosy wood fire, and superb views and birds kept us out of trouble, plus easy walks to a range of beaches close by. The cliff-top walk from Diamond Harbour to Charteris Bay is a gem. From Purau it is a pleasure to do day visits to Akaroa harbour, Lyttelton (with ease via 8 min ferry service from Diamond Harbour), Orton Bradley park (history, golf and cafe), Stoddart House (art history) and Ohinetahi garden (Governor's Bay if open). Day trips to Christchurch are also possible although the road is windy and hilly. A car is necessary for this home exchange. Thank-you Jo for your warm welcome with wine, cheese and a meal!
