Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Pete's Cottage is a traditional wooden cottage, about 150 years old, which was well maintained, lovingly preserved, and boasts some beautiful original architectural details. It is located in the heart of Windwardside, a convenient (meaning 2 minutes) and easy (meaning flat!) walk to most of Saba's restaurants, supermarkets, and dive centers. It is a lovely place to sit and greet the locals walking by.
We have recently bought Pete's Cottage, so at this point we have not been able to begin our list of improvements to the property. At the moment it still is a lovely, yet basic, accommodation.
Most people come to the island for the world class diving (Saba National Marine Park) or the incredibly diverse hiking such as Mount Scenery (the volcano and Elfin forest), the Sulphur mines or Island trails through the forests and along the deep valleys. There is very limited shopping and no beach culture.
Saba is a 13 square km volcano and it is breath taking!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Saba is a volcano in the middle of the Caribbean. What makes it so special is that it does NOT have white sandy beaches! This is why I love Saba as it only attracts nature lovers. The diving is breathtaking and the hikes up and around the volcano are incredible. The people are friendly and there is hardly any shopping so what you do is read, talk to each other and the locals and enjoy the sound of the tree frogs at night. There is some nightlife which can be a bit loud and Caribbean at times.. :-)
