The house is situated in a very accessible nature area in the province of Friesland. It is surrounded by meadows where cows, sheep and horses graze. The house is located on the Prinses Margriet canal.

The house is situated in the outskirts of the village Buitenpost (6000 inhabitants) at 4 km from the railway station. From here, the cities of Leeuwarden and Groningen can be reached in 18 minutes. The two old university towns offer plenty of opportunities for culture, shopping, cinemas, museums etc. and are well worth a visit.

The immediate area offers many opportunities for biking, hiking, fishing and canoeing. A day trip to one or more Frisian Islands is within easy reach. The distance to the boat for crossing the Wadden Sea is 30 kilometers. The Frisian lakes area (ideal for all sorts of water recreation), with its beautiful typical towns can be reached within an hour's drive. Amsterdam and other major cities can be reached in less than two hours.
