There are three of us living on the houseboat: Bart, Margreet and Adje, the cat. Adje has his own catflap and spends lots of his time outside. He just needs some food (and his thyroid medicines) and some TLC now and again :)

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Spacious houseboat in Amsterdam. Home of me, Bart and Adje our cat. Watch the swans, coots and other birds in a high-ceilinged living room upstairs and spacious kitchen. Or sit on the terrace on the water while the birds float by. Upstairs there is a toilet. Downstairs contains a small but very tall library , a master bedroom, a spare small bedroom for one, and bathroom with a shower, another toilet and a laundry room. There is also a garden to sit in and terrace on the water on the front.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our houseboat is located in the north of Amsterdam. A swim ladder on our terrace gives us direct access to the water to swim or to canoe if the weather is right. But being so close to the water is fantastic in all seasons. Our neighborhood is very hip at the moment, the process of gentrification is in full swing, which means that there are all sorts of interesting restaurants, cafes and breweries to visit. Our area is teeming with all kinds of interesting activities. The center of Amsterdam is very close by. A ferry (day and night) which is just a 5-minutes-bikeride away, will take you to the very center.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There is so much to see and do in Amsterdam: visiting the Vincent van Gogh museum or Rijksmuseum, eating in wonderful restaurants, having a beer in interesting cafes, etc. Taking a walk along the canals. But the countryside surrounding the north of Amsterdam is also worth a visit and visiting the very picturesque fishing villages of Marken, Edam, and Monnickedam.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Our houseboat has just two bedrooms, one for two persons and a small spare bedroom. It houses a maximum of three people. The boat contains natural stone on the kitchenfloor and in the showers. Beautiful but it does require some degree of caution in handling (mainly not leaving wine or any substance containing acids on the floor). If any of those substances is spilled in the kitchen it should be cleaned at once with water. Please do not use any cleaning products. Our cleaning lady knows exactly which cleaning fluids not to use and which to use.
