Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Centre of Amsterdam!
We can offer you a beautiful, spacious loft, two floors, each approximately 150 m2, in an old warehouse, right at the canal in Amsterdam centre. The house is situated in a very quiet, wonderful neighbourhood, called "De Plantage", meaning that the architectural setting is oriented on the idea of a late nineteenth century development in Amsterdam. Inhabitants from the other side of the river Amstel, built their garden/ and houses in this part of town. Next to that we are proud to mention that the view from the backside of the house is the Hortus Botanicus, one of the eldest botanical gardens in Europe. In the direct neighbourhood you will find: Artis, (the Zoo), NEMO, a museum dealing with science and developments in physics and astronomy etc. De Hermitage: a dependance of the Hermitage museum in Leningrad, Scheepvaartmuseum, a museum about nautical subjects such as ships, sailingboats etc. from the seventeenth century onwards.
Amsterdam is also called :Venice of the North, due to all the canals and boats and the parallel situation of both cities. The frontside view of the house is actually a view on the Nieuwe Keizersgracht. (Gracht= canal)See photo insert.
Amsterdam is known for its museums on literally any subject, mostly fine arts, but also Jewish Historical Museum, next to synagogues from the 17th century onwards, FOAM and Huis Marseille, both museums on photography, Amsterdam Historical Museum, Van Gogh museum, Rijksmuseum, Museum of Resistance, Holocaustmuseum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Tropen Institute (about our colonial past) and quite some art galleries of all kinds, shops of all kinds and prices etc. etc .
Public transport is right around the corner, tram and subway.
There is a lot of extra information available, to be shared as soon as we reach an agreement.
