We are a family with two boys aged 18 and 21. They might come with me, or not, depending on mood, destination and overall coolness of the exchange house. I am the director of the Academy for Theatre & Dance of ArtEZ University of the Arts. I am also a professional cook so prepare for a loaded fridge and all the equipment you should want. Or not, since there's a huge array of nice restaurants near by. We love hiking, biking, swimming and boating. When in more urban environments we like to visit musea, have nice meals, go to the market and have coffees on terraces. We sometimes travel with my partner and his 3 kids. We have been exchanging our home since 2002, and loved every bit of it.

Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We offer a 100 m2 ground floor family-apartment in Amsterdam, in a very quiet part of the centre of town, near science museum, maritime museum, and the dockland area. Also within walking distance are the Zoo, the Hortus Botanicus and the Rembrandt House. Everything else easy to reach by bike or public transport. Several bikes are available.
In the 19th century, the (A-listed) building was a fire station. Before that (17th century) it was a warehouse. Ceilings are 3,50 mtr. Three bedroom apartment all 1,40 or 1,60 beds. We have a very large garden with playground (to be shared with very nice neighbours and their kids). Also private patio. Ideal house for those who want to enjoy Amsterdam and its surroundings, with open space, a garden and parking space (not free).
Amsterdam is a lovely and child-friendly city, but also a very good place to discover Holland from. We enjoy our city every day. Beach is 20 min by train or car, although we swim every day in the IJ which is on our doorstep. We would love to go to Ireland this summer with my partner, son and his girlfriend.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in a very quiet part of the center of town, which means parking space, green, water, playgrounds. While only 5 min by bike from Central station and Dam square. At 150 yards there is a rather big supermarket and a (very good) butcher. We swim every day from April to September in the IJ, a boardwalk being 1 min walk from the back garden in Marineterrein. I love my city and I hope you will, too.

We like the countryside for summer destinations. Then again, it's just about that sparkle you feel when seeing a listing so just try us. We do not do house rules, we just assume everyone to behave like it's their own home. So just use our stuff, eat out the fridge, and have fun!
Taking care of the cats is optional. I can dens them out for sleepover.
