Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We are still interested in local exchanges. We are flexible in welcoming exchangers to either our Toronto or Muskoka property.

The Muskoka area, where our waterfront home is located, has been described by National Geographic Traveller as one of the top tourist destinations. Have a look at http://travel.nationalgeographic.com/travel/best-trips-summer-2011-photos/

We're on the water's edge of Gloucester Pool, a large lake which is part of the Trent-Severn waterway system of rivers and lakes linking Lake Ontario in the south to Georgian Bay/Lake Huron to the north-west

The core of the home is natural cedar. A new, modern kitchen and master bedroom with en-suite were added in 2002, when the cottage was upgraded and insulated. There is electric baseboard heating as well as a high-efficiency wood-burning stove

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Although the cottage sits among "picture postcard" lakes and forest, you are 8 minutes from the main highway linking Toronto with points north. Scenic towns and villages for shopping are minimally 20 minutes away. Some of our neighbours are "cottagers" who use their property as a recreational second home. Others are full-time retired residents

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

If you can tear yourself away from the deck or dock, there are numerous small Ontario towns to explore within a 20-45 minute drive. Boat cruises amid the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay operate from Midland and Parry Sound. Or cruise inland waters aboard an original mail ship, The Segwun, out of Gravenhurst. Saint Marie Among the Hurons, operated by the provincial government, is a fascinating step back into the Aboriginal/European history of the area. Drayton Entertainment operates high quality summer theatre at the Establishments in Penetanguishene.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We want you to enjoy yourselves, but…. Smoking is definitely not permitted anywhere on this heavily wooded property. Outdoor fires (fire pit) are not allowed if a fire ban has been issued due to dry conditions. A two-person kayak is the only boat available to exchangers. (The power boat in the boathouse, due to insurance restrictions, is not part of the exchange.) We would be happy to negotiate with families with children. Considering the proximity to water, we would request that children be older and "water-wise" Please check our exchange preferences below
