- We had good time in Angera. We enjoyed this original home, well equipped with garden and its International touch. Many places to visit on the lake ( isole Borromee, Arona, Ranco ) and countryside. Good restaurants and street market as well. In Angera don't miss the Rocca and the little archeological museum. Thanks to Orla : we all were happy with this swap.

Hi, I'm Orla and I'm Irish but I have lived in Italy since 1990 in the lovely town of Angera on Lake Maggiore which is 50 kilometers north of Milan and near the border with Switzerland. We have hot summers for swimming in the lake and cold winters for skiing, so the best of both worlds :) I have 3 children who are now adults, 31, 29, 26 years old. I will sometimes travel on my own and sometimes with them and perhaps their partners. I am an experienced exchanger having done 7 very successful exchanges in the past, so please be assured that I would treat your house with care.

Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
The apartment is 90 square-meters with an enclosed private garden of 400 square-meters. The house is 5 minutes walking distance to the shops, bars, restaurants, the ferryboat station and the lake with its own beach in the lovely lakeside town of Angera but in a quiet and beautiful country area with lots of lovely walks! Once here there is no need to use the car at all. Even if you want to go to Milan, you just have to walk to the ferryboat and take the ferry to Arona and the train from there to Milan or up to Switzerland along Lake Maggiore.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
I live in a very pretty, small town called Angera on Lake Maggiore near Milan and surrounded by the Italian & Swiss Alps, Its short drive (40 minutes) to go over the border to Switzerland. You can also go to Switzerland (Lorcano) by ferryboat from Angera. There are plenty of wonderful things to do in the area, trips on the lake, lake beaches, scenic train rides into Switzerland, Hiking/walking and cycling in the nearby Alps. Angera itself has some great restaurants and bars. If you want to see Milan and all that it offers you only need to take a train (50 minutes) In fact it is possible to use my place as a base and drive or take a train to all the nearby Italian cities of culture, Turin, Genoa, Verona, Venice, Bologna, Florence etc

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Lake Maggiore & the Noce Beach in Angera: the beach is free entry and you can go and sit with your towel wherever you like. Angera Kids play park & trampoline is on the lake, along the tree-lined promenade. Angera ‘Rocca’ Castle: It is a beautiful castle, still partly lived in by the same family who owned it through the years, the Borromeo Family. The castle itself is really lovely and the views are amazing. It houses one of the biggest doll and toy museums in Europe. Well worth a visit. There is a medieval garden and a coffee shop there too.
Ferry to Arona, a lovely town opposite Angera on the Piedmont side of Lake Maggiore, nice shops, bigger town so much more to offer for shopping than Angera.
If you so wish you may take the train from directly Arona to Milan, avoiding use of the car.
Ferry to Stresa and the Borromean Islands: lovely trip. Ferry or drive to Santa Caterina Monastery.
Private boat trips on lake Maggiore can also be booked with an English speaking host.
Larice Beach in Cadrezzate, only 10 minutes’ drive away: great vibe private beach on the smaller lake Monate, grass, water clean because no power boats allowed. Entrance fee is about 5 euro each. Sunbeds extra, pedalos to hire. Beach bar with good restaurant, facilities basketball, football, volleyball, good for smaller and bigger kids.
‘Wave’ swimming pool in nearby Sesto Calende with big water slides and a kiddies pool.
Local Markets: Angera Market is on Thursday, Arona Tuesday, Sesto Calende Wednesday, Ispra Saturday, very small, Intra Saturday all day, a very big market with leather goods as well. Apart from Intra, the markets are always in the morning only.
Ondaland Water park near Borgomanero and zip-lining at Mottarone and Pombia Safari Park in the same area.
Volandia transport Museum at Malpensa airport. Alfa Romeo Museum about a 40 minute drive away.
Sacra Monte di Varese, World Heritage Site, the Winelands of Piemonte are only an hour away.
In Swizerland, just an hours drive away - Lugano City is very pretty and Mini Svizzera Park. Alprose Chocolate factory in Ponte Tresa.
