We live in a townhouse in Munich, Germany. My husband was born in Florence,
Italy and grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. I was born in Salzburg, Austria but
have lived in Munich most of my life. My husband recently retired after working
for many years as an editor and technology journalist with Siemens. My
background is architecture. Our children live in Copenhagen and Zurich.
Although we are generally very busy, we are always looking to discover new
places and experiences. Our interests range from books and history to design,
travel, food, and so much more.
Our vacation home La Limonaia near Arezzo/Castiglion Fiorentino is less than an
hour`s drive south of Florence. The house was built around 1850 and is set in a
group of gardens in front of a 500-year-old baronial villa – part of Arthur’s
mother’s heritage. La Limonaia has its own manicured driveway and is a
completely private three-bedroom, two-bath, two story house. In addition to its
absolutely private gardens, La Limonaia, has about 700 meters of paths that wind
through our fields, olive groves and woods.

La Limonaia is listed on www.homeaway.co.uk/p40071
La Limonaia is located in a tiny village called Vitiano that has just a view houses. The nearest town is Castiglion Fiorentino, which is just 2 to 3 km away. Situated on a hilltop (345 m asl) Castiglion Fiorentino has splendid views overlooking the Val di Chiana and Preappenines. It is ideally located on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, making it easy to get to the main cities in central Italy. Some of the nearest well known places that offer historical treasures are Cortona, Perugia and of course Arezzo (which offers a famous antique market on the first weekend of every month), Monte San Savino, Lucignano, Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza and so many more.
You can enjoy typical Tuscan cooking at La Antica Pieve just 2 km from La Limonaia, one of our highly recommended restaurants. You can find local organic produce, as well as a variety of craft products every Friday morning at the open air market in Castiglion Fiorentino. La Limonaia also offers easy access to modern supermarkets, stores, banks and as commuter rail station.
