Hi! We're a retired couple. I'm a retired advertising copywriter and Anne, my wife, is a retired Civil Servant.
We live in Ireland and our son and his Canadian wife live in New Westminster outside Vancouver. We have already done three super exchanges in Vancouver in August 2016 & 2017 & 2019 to coincide with the births of our grandchildren. We were planning to stay in Vancouver again last August 2020 but the Covid-19 travel restrictions prevented us from traveling. Now we are fully vacinated (Pfizer) and we are greatly looking forward to meeting our grandchildren in August of this summer 2021 in New Westminster BC, if possible. We really want to see them so we we can be highly flexible about dates... either simultaneous or non-simultaneous.
By the way, we've seasoned exchangers and, in addition to our Canadian exchanges, have completed a lovely exchange in the UK and in France.
Our home is in Sandymount in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. Sandymount is famous worldwide to all James Joyce Ullyses' fans. We offer you a comfortable, spacious and well maintained house situated in a quiet road in Dublin 4. We are just beside the sea - which is great for early morning walks, jogging and some wonderful, wonderful summer evening walks to see the sunsets over the Dublin mountains in the not too far distance. It's a quiet, friendly, road with really great neighbours. Buses and rail are nearby, and you can actually walk from out home to the very centre of Dublin City in 45 minutes. You'll enjoy it.

Read More...In one of the most joyful encounters ever, we met Robert and Anne and her family in our home and departed happy and confident our house was in good hands. We arrived at their lovely and very comfortable home for 10 days and had a hard time leaving it. Books everywhere, two TV screens so the kids could watch films all day long if they wanted to, comfortable beds, a lovely garden filled with plants and rather large flying beasts, our own private fountain at night , bicycles at our disposal which we did not use (quel dommage), a generously filled pantry and the sea with a huge beach on which to walk a stone’s throw away. But Dublin was calling : a very interesting vibrant town where everyone we met was funny, kind, helpful, open and talkative. What a great exchange this was! Anne, thank you for your constant presence on what’sapp, solving efficiently the usual small problems arising during an exchange. We came back finding our cats and garden well-fed and well-watered. Again, thank you Anne, Robert, Mary, Michael, Mary and Dermott. Your lively warmth rang true during our entire stay in your home and we wish every exchanger this rich experience. Dominique and Shawn

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our house is a few minutes walk from Sandymount village which has all amenities - cafes, bars, restaurants, supermarket, bank, etc - and is a much desired and picturesque suburb of Dublin. The city centre is easily accessible by bus - there's a bus stop minutes from our road. The urban train - DART - is about 10 minutes walk and travels along the coast south/north stopping in the city centre. The journey by car to the centre of Dublin is about 15 minutes - except at peak rush hour.
The beach at Sandymount is a few minutes from our house and is wonderful for strolling, jogging, and enjoying watching the yachts in the bay and ships in the distance. It's also used for kite surfing and wind surfing. There's a truly spectacular walk out to the lighthouse in Dublin Bay where you can watch the passenger ferries and commercial ships passing at close range.
If you hop on the DART (city train) you can travel to either Bray (south seaside village) or Howth (north fishing village) and walk around the headlands which have spectacular views.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The city centre is about 4 kms distance which has all the attractions of a European capital city - theatres, cinemas, museums, zoo, art galleries. We often walk there. Most visitors make sure to visit Trinity College Location of the famous 'Book of Kells', the Guinness Store, the Zoo in Phoenix Park (an attraction in itself!) and Temple Bar for nightlife.
