Our son is moving to Vancouver in 2019. We plan to visit him from June 15 - July 15, 2019. We would love to hear from anybody who has a house on the west side of Vancouver that would enjoy coming to explore the delights of Dublin from our very conveniently located house!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We are lucky to be on one of the main bus routes (46A) to Dublin city centre or Dún Laoghaire (5 minute walk) and the airport Aircoach bus (10 minute walk from the house). You can also travel by urban train (DART) which is about a 15 minute walk from the house. The city centre stop, Tara Street, takes 12 minutes from our local DART station (Booterstown). Journey by car to the centre is about 20 minutes, except at rush hour.
There is an abundance of amenities in the area, whether you are interested in the great outdoors or the culture and history of Ireland. If you hop on the DART you can travel to Bray (south) or Howth (north) and hike around the headlands which have spectacular views of Dublin Bay. Enjoy walks along the East & West Piers in Dún Laoghaire and all along the coastline. Literary lovers will enjoy the James Joyce Tower and museum which is housed in a Martello Tower in Sandycove and swimmers will enjoy the bracing water of the famous 40ft bathing area in front of the Tower. There are several beauty spots including Killiney (where Bono lives!) and Dalkey (where Maeve Binchy lived!) with some majestic views of the coastline. Blackrock and Stillorgan are our local shopping centres. Dún Laoghaire also has many shops, art galleries, a theatre, multiplex cinema and restaurants.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Dublin city centre has all the attractions of a major European capital city. It is a lovely and compact city with great history. Here are some of the many interesting places to visit: Trinity College, Guinness Storehouse, Museums,, Dublin Castle, Kilmainham Jail, Art galleries, Theatres, Temple Bar cultural area, traditional music pubs, restaurants and great shopping.
Top of the list should be exploring Trinity College (Tara Street DART station), the book of Kells and the Old library that takes you back 500 to 1000 years into the past. The audio tour is a must, as is the tour of the grounds by one of the history students.
If you want a full day out don't miss magical Glendalough, with its ancient monastery and magnificent mountain and lakes, just an hour's drive, or accessible by public transport from Dublin City. Enniskerry and the world renowned Powerscourt Gardens are only 30 minutes away by car or bus. In the evening, enjoy relaxing in our southwest-facing conservatory, or walk to our local pub (Gleeson’s, 10 min walk) to enjoy sampling great Guinness and excellent food.
