Description of the home we are offering for exchange
**** We are looking for an exchange before Easter 2020 or Summer 2020 ****
**** Summer 2020: either June 19-29 or ~2 weeks in early September ****
** Note: we have more photos of our apartment that we can send you in a personal message **
Our 3-room apartment is located in a beautiful, tree-lined street in Berlin-Schöneberg, a central and very popular neighborhood. We live on a quiet side street which is lined with beautiful large trees, but in 3 minutes by foot you will reach two popular streets nearby (Akazienstr./Goltzstr.) where you can find lots of small shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and outdoor markets (for example, the famous outdoor market at Winterfeldplatz).
Our apartment has two bed rooms and one living room. The small bedroom has a double bed (180cm wide) and a bed for a small child (there is nothing else in this room). There is a second, larger room which can sleep two further people on two 90cm beds (you can either set up one 90cm bed or 2*90cm next to each other). Finally, the living room has a sleeper sofa with space for 2 people. So, we could sleep up to 6 adults and one small child, although it would be quite full then. Up to 4 adults or older children and one small child could comfortably sleep in the two rooms.
We have a large balcony overlooking the beautiful old trees in our street. It is great for spending mild summer evenings in Berlin.
Parking is available for free on our street, although we do not recommend driving in Berlin as guests (we rarely drive in Berlin ourselves). Public transportation is excellent in Berlin and generally more convenient than driving. We also have one bike that you can use.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighborhood is called "Akazienkiez/Goltzkiez" and is located in the Berlin district of Schöneberg. This is a very popular neighborhood with lots of small shops, bars, restaurants and cafes. Plenty of shopping options, from large supermarkets and organic food stores to smaller specialty stores for wine, cheese and gourmet foods are all within 5-10 minutes by foot.
The area is very popular with families and very child-friendly - there are about 10 playgrounds, both for smaller and older children, that can all be reached in 5-10 minutes.
Numerous transport links (subway U1, U2, U3, U4, U7, S-Bahn S1, bus lines M48, M85 and various other bus lines) are 5-10 minutes by foot and will bring to most of the main tourist sites of Berlin in 15-20 minutes.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our own neighborhood has lots of small shops, cafes, bars, restaurants but there are none of the classic "tourist sites" of Berlin in Schöneberg.
However, numerous transportation links (subway lines U1, U2, U3, U4, U7, S-Bahn S1, bus lines M48, M85 and various other bus lines) are 5-10 minutes by foot and will bring to most of the main tourist sites of Berlin quickly, e.g.:
- Museum island (c. 20 minutes)
- Potsdamer Platz and Brandenburg Gate (c. 10 minutes)
- Kurfürstendamm area (c. 10 minutes)
- Checkpoint Charlie (c. 10 minutes)
Some other popular neighborhoods of Berlin can also be reached easily from our place: Kreuzberg (U1 or U7, ~10 minutes), Neukölln (U7, ~15 minutes), Prenzlauer Berg (U2, ~25 minutes) and Mitte (U2 or S1, ~20 minutes). The large recreational area "Park am Gleisdreieck" can also be reached in 20 minutes by foot. The Berlin zoo is also only 3 km away, you could even walk there.
If you are for longer, we also recommend a day trip to the nearby city of Potsdam (UNESCO world heritage sites). Potsdam can be reached in about 45 minutes on public transportation. For hot summer days, there are numerous lakes and forests outside of Berlin that make for popular destinations and can be reached within about 1 hour.
