Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Potsdam is the so called german Versailles!
We live in a large family-apartment (145 m²) located in a quiet, elegant neighbourhood, 5 minutes walk to Lake "Heiliger See", surrounded by water and UNESCO World Heritage buildings (5-10 minutes walk), parks, museums, next to the famous "Cold-War-Bridge"Glienicker Brücke. It's very close to Berlin.
The apartment has a large kitchen (a sun-trap in the morning), a large room/salon for the family, two rooms for the children (boy and girl), two bathrooms, a bedroom and a kind of dressing room (which can/will be used as a box room/store room during an exchange).
We have a very good connection to Berlin (Wannsee - 15 minutes by bus). But Potsdam offers a lot of attractions (only the Park Sanssouci with its castles and fountains is worth the trip!).
Airport Berlin (Tegel): 30 Minutes by taxi.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The apartment is in an apartment building in the Berlin suburb, a neighborhood with many villas, bordering directly on Berlin. The flair is urban, as the street leads past the house, and at the same time close to nature, as the idyllic Unesco-World-Heritage-Ensemble can be reached in 5 minutes (marble palace).
A tram stop is right on your doorstep. The main railway station of Potsdam is 8 minutes away by tram, and about 6 minutes to the centre of Potsdam. The "Heiliger See" (Lake) is 4 minutes away on foot, in summer you can swim there. Cecilienhof Castle and the New Garden are also within walking distance. A playground under trees for children is a street away. Potsdam's Theatre an the Dance-factory are just around the corner.
Right next door: A supermarket and a bakery. A biomarket: 700 m. An italian restaurant is about 200 metres away.
Die Wohung befindet sich in einem Mehrfamilienhaus in der Berliner Vorstadt, einem Viertel mit vielen Villen, das direkt an Berlin grenzt. Das Flair ist urban, da die Straße vorm Haus vorbeiführt, und gleichzeitig naturnah, da das idyllische Unesco-Kulturerbe-Ensemble in 5 Minuten zu erreichen ist (Marmorpalais).
Eine Straßenbahnhaltestelle liegt direkt vor der Haustür. Zum Hauptbahnhof sind es per Tram 8 Minuten, bis ins Zentrum von Potsdam ca. 6 Minuten.
Der Heilige See ist zu Fuß in 4 Minuten zu erreichen, im Sommer kann man dort baden. Das Schloß Cecilienhof und der Neue Garten sind ebenfalls fußläufig erreichbar. Einen Spielplatz unter Bäumen gibt es eine Straße weiter. Potsdams Theater und die Schiffbauergasse mit Museum, Tanz-Fabrik und Diskotheken sind nur ein paar Schritte entfernt.
Direkt nebenan: ein Supermarkt und ein Bäcker. Ein italienisches Restaurant liegt ca. 200 m entfernt. Ein indisches Restaurant ca. 600 m.

Potsdam is the german Versailles! Go for a walk in the unique cultural landscape, admire the castles and parks, stand on the famous bridge where Steven Spielberg filmed "Bridge of Spies" or just go to Berlin, to Wannsee (the starting point to all attractions in Berlin) it's only a short trip by bus (10 minutes) ... Potsdam is full of history, one of the most beautiful cities in Germany.
