We're a family of four (+Zippo the cat !), though one of our daughters now lives in Paris to become an engineer. Our youngest daughter in in 12th grade, and studies english, italian and arabic. My husband and I both work in public education, and have recently bought a house on the country side which we're in the process of making livable. We also have a two floor apartment in Lyon. My husband and I both speak english and german, and are looking to travel to the US or Canada. We've had many amazing experiences exchanging houses with people from England, Germany, California, Ireland... thanks to Homelink, and are really looking forward to making more memories like these. We love hiking, exploring new places and meeting new people !

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
A beautiful, very warm hearted Duplex (2 floors) in an historical "Canut building" on a quiet street, on top of one of the two hills in Lyon. Restaurants, theaters, parks..... all right outside your door. The subway line D can take you down to the peninsula of midtown Lyon, between the two large rivers of the Rhône and the Saône. All four rooms are on the second floor, and the master bedroom includes its own bathroom and dressing room.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Croix-Rousse is well known for its historical backgrounds and its current social life : it is a quarter of Lyon, but as an ancient suburb it seems like a village above the town-center which you can access in 10 mn by foot : the district attracts an array of interesting people (and young families) who enjoy its friendly atmosphere and its " French way of life" (the most well-known open-air market of Lyon, the best local chocolate shop...). Lyon is next to the Alp-stations : in clear weather, you can see the Mont-Blanc from the esplanade of "Gros-Caillou" (2 mn by foot...).
It is amazing to discover the town by bike (the banks of the Rhone are very well fit out, the Saône is currently equipped with bike roads as far as the 1st vineyards of Beaujolais !)
Other attractions include the Beaujolais vineyard (less than 1h), the medieval mountain-village of Annecy (1h30), the mountain-overviews (the massif of Chartreuse and its abbey, the Regional Park of Vercors).
Thanks to the TGV, you can access Marseille (European Capital of Culture in 2013 !) and the Mediterranean sea in 1h15.
