Description of the home we are offering for exchange
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE COMPLETED EXCHANGES FOR 2017. Le Petit Béron is a tiny hamlet about 30 miles south of Caen. The house is built in the Normandy style with balconies from two of the bedrooms and attractive beams in the lounge and other rooms. The house is twenty years old and has full central heating.
The kitchen was re-fitted last year with all new units. The living room has a dining area and a lounge with a three piece suite. There is a 42” TV with Sky.
There are three double bedrooms. There is a family bathroom and one bedroom has an ensuite hand basin. There is also a shower on the ground floor.
The land around the house is about two acres although the garden encloses about half of that. French windows open out onto a terrace overlooking the surrounding area. There is an ornamental fish pond which does not need looking after.
We like to have lots of flowers round the house but don't worry - there is an automatic watering system!
We have an internet connection (about 2mb).

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
The house is approx 3 miles from Clécy (twinned with Ermington in Devon) which is the capital of ‘La Suisse Normande’, an area which has rolling hills with occasional dramatic cliffs. Clécy is a centre for holidays for many French people offering restaurants, canoeing, climbing, fishing, walking and hang gliding. Many of these activities take place by the side of the River Orne. There is a golf course and velo rail nearby and a superb model railway exhibition in Clécy village.
There are good weekly markets in Condé sur Noireau (3 miles) and Flers (11 miles).
We have collected a lot of information about the local area available for anyone staying at the house. See also ‘Attractions’.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are well situated for visiting many of the sites of interest in Normandy. The D-day beaches are spread along the coast north of Caen and round towards Cherbourg. There are many, many museums and exhibitions recording the events of June 1944 and the Battle of Normandy.
William the Conqueror was born in Falaise (17 miles) where you can visit the chateau. Bayeux is the home of the famous tapestry and the cathedral town of Lisieux is a fifty mile drive.
Caen itself is well worth a visit and although three quarters of the city was destroyed in the war it has been sympathetically rebuilt with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, churches and museums.
Further afield Le Mans would be a two hour drive and the train takes about three hours to reach Paris (from Flers).
