We are a 43 and 45 year old Swiss couple with two daughters (8 & 2). We used to travel a lot before having kids... and are missing it a lot! We are very sociable and like going out as much as sitting in the garden with friends. Reading is another passion we both have. We also like going to the movies or art exhibitions and Olivier is into sports (climbing mostly). We all love skiing, like most Swiss people :). Both our daughters are as quiet, careful and respectful as we are. We take good care of our house and will do the same in yours.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Large 4 bedroom family house (200m2/240yd2) surrounded by a big garden (2000m2/2400yd2) in a quiet village, 5km/3miles away from the Swiss border. It has a stunning view over Geneva and its lake as well as the mountain behind it (Jura).
It has a spacious kitchen and living room (all in one) surrounded by big, sunny windows. You can easily eat outside in the front, if you want to enjoy the magnificent view in the shade (north), or in the back, if you'd rather chill in the sun (south). In the backyard there is a huge trampoline, a sandbox and a swing for the kids, nice and comfortable couches to chill and a table to eat.
Downstairs there is also a laundry room and a bathroom. Upstairs, you'll find four bedrooms, one of which with an ensuite bathroom (and twin beds). There is another toilet and washbasin next to a children's bedroom (one bed "downstairs" and another 1m20/1.3yd large one on the mezzanine). The third bedroom also has twin beds. The forth has a mezzanine too, and so far a baby bed. We'd change that into a mattress that we'd put on the floor if necessary.
In total there are three toilets, two showers and a tub. Both floors are very spacious and sunny.
The garden being 2000m2 /2400yd2 big, in spite of being a little untended to, looks very nice. It has a pond and further down, in front of the garage (which is crowded), there is a big space to park on.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live just 5 minutes walking distance away from the centre of a small, quiet village filled with friendly people. There are 4-5 houses quite near to ours (the closest is about 40m/43yd away, you can see it on one of the pictures). A part from a restaurant 2km/1,2mile away, there is no convenience in this village.
The closest fair-sized grocery store, post office, pharmacy, doctors, vets, hairdresser, bank, pizza-places,... are in the next town, a 5-minutes-drive away (in Collonges-sous-Salève). There is a fairly big inside-outside water park (including spa) with various stores 8 minutes drive away.
If you're interested in Switzerland, you only need to drive for 5 minutes and there you are. If you want to go to Geneva, you'll need to drive 20 minutes to reach the city center. You'll be able to find everything you're looking for there! But within 10 minutes, you'll already have reached a beautiful and typical Genevan neighborhood (Carouge), which has an excellent nightlife (lots of restaurants with worldly cuisine/many excellent bars). If you want to go for a dip in the lake, you'll need to drive for about 20 minutes, too.
There is also public transportation, but really only from the Swiss border (except for a tiny bus that attends the next village 2km/1,2mile away a few times a day). To get there, you'd have to walk (hike, rather, when going home uphill!) for an hour, or you could use the bikes, but the way back is pretty steep.
And last but not least, our house is situated at the foot of a mountain (Salève), which means great views, lots of hiking and climbing. If you hike for 2 hours or less, you'll have reached the top of the Salève, and will be able to admire all the snowcapped Alps on the South side, they're breathtaking views really! If you want to go skiing (even in the summer - on glaciers), you'll have to drive for an hour to Chamonix, or lots of other famous ski resorts.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
A delicious restaurant 2km/1,2 mile away is the closest "entertainment" you'll find. About 4km away, there is a big movie theater complex (that you can quite easily hike to and back).
There is a fairly big inside-outside water park (including spa) with various stores called Vitam 8 minutes drive away.
If you're interested in Switzerland, you only need to drive for 5 minutes and there you are. If you want to go to Geneva, you'll need to drive 20 minutes to reach the city center. You'll be able to find everything you're looking for there (theaters, museums, the United Nations, the Red Cross, the lake to dip, swim, dive, fish or just enjoy the nice outside seating, stores,...)! Within a 10 minutes drive, you'll already have reached a beautiful and typical Genevan neighborhood (Carouge), which has an excellent nightlife (countless cosy worldly cuisine restaurants/many excellent bars).
If you like nature and hiking, you'll will easily reach the top of the Salève (which we Iive at the foot from), and you will be able to admire all the snowcapped Alps on the South side, they're breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc and the rest of the Swiss, French and Italian Alps! If you want to go skiing (even in the summer - on glaciers), you can reach Chamonix within an hour, or lots of other famous ski resorts. There is also a lot mountain biking and hiking from our place, up the Salève and around it.
If you prefer cities, there is Paris, 3h30 train ride away from Geneva, Lyon 2 hours drive, Annecy and it's beautiful lake 40 minutes, Lausanne 1 hour, Montreux 1h30 drive away,...
