Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

A short stretch of Bloor St West has everything you need: banks, cafes, yoga studios, pubs, bakeries, salons, a liquor store, health and gourmet food shops, even a pretty decent cigar shop.

A 5-minute walk gets you to Runnymede subway station, which will get you to pretty much everything Toronto has to offer. (That’s too much to list here, but happy to make recommendations!)

Nearby High Park is Toronto's biggest public park, and offers public swimming, tennis courts, a zoo, fishing and hiking, and in the summer, critically acclaimed performances of Shakespeare In The Park.

The area is a runner's paradise, with several scenic paths along Lake Ontario (2 km away) or the Humber River (1 km away), or more challenging runs inside High Park (900 m away).

A 5-minute bike ride brings you to the Humber, or the beaches and parks along the lake. There you can pick up the Martin Goodman bike path, a must-do for cyclists. It stretches along Lake Ontario for some 60 km from the eastern beaches, west to the Humber River and beyond. It's also a great way to get downtown, to the Rogers Centre for Blue Jays games or BMO Field for soccer and football games.

There's also a free outdoor mountain-bike course just a short ride away. Jumps, half-pipes, and other challenging courses for the daredevils in the family.

Swansea was the last independent village to be annexed by Toronto in 1967 and part of Bloor West Village. It's a very family oriented area, with lots to do for both kids and adults.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

High Park and Lake Ontario are both about a 20-minute walk or a 10-minute bike ride from our home. Our home is a 5-minute walk to the nearest subway station, which will get you downtown in about 30 minutes. There you'll find the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, loads of concert venues and nightclubs, and the main sports venues (Rogers Centre domed stadium for the Toronto Blue Jays, Scotiabank Arena for the Toronto Maple Leafs, BMO Field for TFC soccer and Argonauts football)

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We ask only that things be kept in relative order. And enjoy yourselves.

Our cat is named Finn, a very friendly little guy when he comes out of his shell. He's getting up there so he doesn't move around very much, but he always appreciates a bit of attention.
