We are a senior couple who love to travel. Chris is a university professor and I am a retired nurse/health care administrator. We have no children but we are very close to our many nieces and nephews and welcome your children into our home. We love to golf, hike, sight see. We love theatre, art galleries and museums. We love good restaurants and fun pubs. We have lived in many different places over the years and often travel with another couple or with family members. We have exchanged through another exchange site in England, and we have rented numerous houses and apartments through airbnb.ca and can get good references if necessary. We are very respectful of people's property and take good care.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Saint John, New Brunswick is a charming, small port city in the heart of the maritimes on the beautiful Bay of Fundy which boasts the highest tides in the world. It offers numerous good restaurants, theatre, museum, small art galleries, a bustling city market, good shopping and an excellent array of easily accessible natural sites and wonders. There is ample public waterfront for swimming, hiking, sailing, canoeing and kayaking as well as golfing in summer, and, downhill or cross country skiing in winter. Summers are moderate (usually low 20's Celcius, but can get hotter). We are an hour and a half drive to the American border and the New England States via Calais, ME.
The house is very spacious and comfortable, with a large and pretty front garden and patio, as well as a forested back garden with deck - great for bird and deer watching. It is a 5 minute walk to the beautiful Kennebecassis River and a 10 min drive to the sea side. Ferries to islands.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighbourhood is a 5 minute walk to the Kennebecassis River and the Royal Kennebecassis Yacht Club. It is a 40 minute walk to a small public, swimable beach on this same river. There are free ferries across the river to the quaint Kingston Peninsula where there are other small public beaches, lovely drives and magnificent river views. The neighbourhood is quiet and well looked after by friendly and helpful neighbours. Public transit is not the best, and a car would be necessary to enjoy the city and the region. A very good 18 hole public golf course is a 5 minute drive from the house.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There are bird watching and whale watching tours accessible from short drives from the city such as St. Andrews which in itself is a gorgeous little gem. St. Andrews is also home to a beautiful golf course. There are caves in St. Martin's and further afield one can take the Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island. In town there is an annual Busker Festival on the waterfront and good live performance options at the beautiful Imperial Theatre.
