Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our comfortable home is situated on a peaceful 1/2 acre in a lovely country setting. We have gardens in the front and backyards and a small fish pond—many intimate areas to relax and contemplate after a busy day of sightseeing. Close to nature, sometimes you’ll see (or hear) bald eagles, herons, racoons, deer, owls, kingfishers, etc. We have lived here for 30+ years & have friendly, helpful neighbours.
The house is set up with 2 bedrooms—the master bedroom has a beautiful view into the backyard, a king size bed, a sofa for comfortable reading, a sunken ThermalMasseur bathtub, gas fireplace and an ensuite with walk-in shower & toilet. The guest bedroom has a queen size bed. * Please note, the house is set up for one or two couples only. The main bathroom has a bathtub with rain shower. The kitchen has all the appliances, cooking utensils and spices you may wish to use. WI-FI, BBQ & exercise equipment are also available to you.
Vancouver Island boasts pristine natural beauty, old growth forests, wildlife, Pacific Rim National Park, picturesque beaches & stunning coastlines and the capital city of British Columbia (Victoria). You'll find it all right here!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our little town of Saanichton has all the basic amenities (hospital, post office, grocery store, farmer's market, pub, restaurants, pharmacy, gas station, park, tennis courts, hiking trails). There is a cidery (Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse) at the end of our road. We are a short 10-15 minute drive to the world famous Butchart Gardens, the Butterfly Gardens, charming Sidney by the Sea (theatre, cinema, restaurants), as well as golf courses, lakes and beaches.
The Victoria International Airport and BC Ferries are within a 10-20 minute drive giving access to Vancouver, the Gulf Islands and the US via Vancouver. There are also 2 ferry options from downtown Victoria (25-30 minute drive) to the United States (Seattle on The Clipper, foot passenger ferry or Port Angeles on The Coho motor vehicle or foot passenger ferry—reservations required).
Victoria with its diverse culture and many attractions is a scenic 25-30 minute drive from home. There you will find the stately Legislature Buildings and the famous Empress Hotel, the picturesque & active Inner Harbour, the Royal British Columbia Museum, restaurants, theatres, galleries, a casino, and horse-drawn carriages as well as whale watching boats waiting to show you nature from the ocean.

Whale watch, fish or sail on our nearby waters or enjoy beautiful waterfront strolls.
The 29km Lochside Regional Trail which meanders from Victoria to Sidney through rolling farmlands, forests & along shorelines is easily accessed minutes from our home. This trail hooks up with the 55km Galloping Goose Trail stretching from Victoria to Sooke. More great hiking trails only minutes away are found in John ȽÁU,WELṈEW̱/John Dean Park, Tod Inlet, etc.
