Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The Dieppe area is dubbed the hub of the Maritime Provinces - New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island -, making it the ideal spot to visit all three. Its population, a mix of French Acadians, British Iles descendants and other settlers from around the world, give this urban area of 110,000 a vibrant cultural scene. Great food (seafood is abundant!), theatre, cultural festivals, etc.

Within a 10 min drive from town, you find yourself in a pristine nature setting that has not yet been affected by over development. A network of walking/biking trails-forest or marshland (we have 2 bikes) is within walking distance. Two national parks at 1 hour away.

Beaches and fishing wharves of the Golf of Saint Lawrence (in season, you can buy lobster directly from fishermen) are a 15 minute drive away.

The Bay of Fundy, a UNESCO world biosphere reserve, and one of the 7 top natural wonders of North America, with the highest tides in the world and famous Hopewell Rocks and Fundy Trail is at a 45 minutes drive.

The world famous salmon fishing river, the Miramichi, is a 1h30 drive away. Picturesque Prince Edward Island is at 1hr and Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2h30.

The area also offers a variety of golf courses. The closest at 5 minutes is world class.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

2017 marks Canada's 150th anniversary. A variety of celebrations are planned throughout the year and entry to all National Parks will be free. We are centrally located to the following parks: Fundy and Kouchibougouac in New Brunswick, Cavendish on Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton Highlands in Nova Scotia. We have great hiking and biking trails, gorgeous beaches, lobster fishing, and...the people are among the friendliest you will meet.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We always do our best to provide a home and a vehicle that are neat, tidy and in good working condition. We expect the same from our exchangers. We have two adult sons who now live abroad so our home is no longer suitable for young children. We wish to exchanges with non-smokers only.
