We are a retired couple who are active, healthy, and love sports, especially golf. Ted worked in marketing (mostly beer) and I was a teacher of English at the secondary level. We have a golden doodle who we named Dublin because we love Ireland so much. Two years ago, we sold our house in Toronto and moved 90 minutes south to the little town of Fonthill: no traffic jams, no parking problems, fresh produce at roadside stands, walking trails, small town friendliness.
We belong to Lookout Point Golf Club, where we play about 3 times a week from May to October. Ted loves football and is a big Chelsea fan.

Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are a retired couple who are both avid golfers. We particularly love links courses. Our schedule is fairly flexible so we are open to offers.
Our home is in a residential area 1 mile from the town of Fonthill. We are a 35 minute drive from Niagara-on-the-Lake, a 35 minute drive from Niagara Falls and 80 minutes from the centre of Toronto. We are 80 minutes from the Toronto International airport. We have bike paths that connect to the Welland Canal bike route and you are welcome to use our two utility bikes. It is possible to walk to shopping centres, but you will need a car for day trips outside of Fonthill..
Our main floor master bedroom has a king bed, ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. The main floor guest room has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom. Our third bedroom with ensuite is on the lower level, which is at ground level, so unlike a basement. The lower level also has a large TV room with a big screen TV and electric fireplace, an office and a laundry room.
Fonthill is a fairly small town, but it has all the amenities of a large one. We have grocery shopping, coffee shops, gyms, yoga studios, pizza, a few pubs, clothing shops, wine store, various spas, as well as medical practitioners. In summer and fall, there are numerous fresh produce markets and roadside stands selling local foods. The Pen Centre, a fairly large shopping mall is a 20 minute drive.
The Niagara Region is known for its wines, especially ice wines. There are numerous wineries (20+) within a half hour drive of our house. Many offer tours as well as gourmet lunches and dinners. In the heart of wine country is Niagara-on-the-Lake, Where you can rent bicycles and ride the 30 km of trails (off road) along the Niagara River stopping at wineries along the way. Niagara-on-the-lake is also home to The Shaw Festival, offering some of the best theatrical performances in Canada from April to October.
We have a dog, a golden doodle named Dublin, but our home is very clean and neat. When we travel, we usually send Dublin to stay with a neighbour.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Fonthill is a quiet town bordering on rural farmland. The Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, offering theatre performances from early April to late October is only about 40 minutes away. There are two very good golf courses in the area within a 10 minute drive from the house: Lookout Point is a private club that hosts public events on Mondays and Penninsula Lakes is a Semi-private club. Other Niagara golf courses are within a 40 minute drive.
The town of Ridgeville, within walking distance of less than 2 miles has a few gift shops and clothing shops as well as a great little cafe that makes fantastic soup and has great lunch sandwiches.
Root and Bone, an upscale restaurant, recently opened in Fonthill. We also have a new pub called Butcher and Banker. If you go to The Pied Piper on the weekend, you will be entertained with really good local musicians who might be playing jazz, but might be playing Motown. The entertainment changes frequently.
