Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in the historic Edmonton neighbourhood of Old Strathcona. We are centrally situated, close to the North Saskatchewan River, close to the downtown central core of the city. We are surrounded by endless river valley parks that stretch on both sides of the river, all within walking distance. We are close to Mill Creek Ravine, the Mutant Conservatory Pyramids and the University of Alberta. There are so many beautiful hiking trails nearby you won't be able to walk them all. We are minutes from Edmonton's city centre and for fun, you can hop on the historic High Level Bridge Streetcar which takes you from Whyte Avenue right to downtown (city centre). We are walking distance to Whyte Avenue, famous for amazing restaurants, lively pubs and unique shops. We are a couple of minutes from the Old Strathcona Farmer's Market which is every Saturday all year long. There are many things to do in this area, numerous festivals, live theatre, sporting events, pools, paddling on the river, concerts nearby and so on. Enjoy the amazing art in many nearby galleries, attend the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival (August), the Edmonton Folk Music Festival (August) or enjoy the Whyte Avenue Art Walk on the streets of Old Strathcona (July). Venture downtown to see the Alberta Provincial Museum, the Legislature Grounds, the amazing Art Gallery of Alberta or enjoy high tea at the Harvest Room at the historic Hotel MacDonald. Visit the historic old fort at Fort Edmonton Park or picnic at the Edmonton Valley Zoo which is nestled on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. If you are here in the winter, go to Rabbit Hill to ski locally, or better yet, hop on the MagicBus to Marmot Ski Hill in Jasper National Park. If you love hockey, check out an Oiler's game at Roger's Place.
We are always happy to answer any questions about our city so feel free to message us.
