We are Richard, a business consultant and foster carer, and Evelyn, a counselling therapist. Our children have gone to university but may sometimes be travelling with us. Evelyn was born in Canada, Richard in the UK, and we have lived in this house for over twenty years. We are relatively new to the HomeLink website, but have completed at least thirty or forty exchanges via other websites over the last fifteen years or so.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
`Old Bank House` is a detached, Victorian, stone-built former bank dating from 1874, conveniently located in a small Peak District town in South Yorkshire. The spacious rooms are over three floors, with many original character features including original coving and high ceilings. There are three reception rooms, and a large kitchen with an Aga cooker on the main level. The six bedrooms, which are all double (three with super-king beds), are on the remaining two floors and the main bathroom has a Victorian claw-foot bath. Our home is located in the town centre with a medium sized supermarket, shops, restaurants and railway station all within a short walking distance.
Over the years, our house has seen many big family get-togethers, for which it is absolutely ideal. Some have been our for own family, others have been for home exchange partners.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Penistone is a small market town on the edge of Peak District moorland in South Yorkshire. There are miles and miles of footpaths and cycling and riding trails in lovely countryside within reach of the front door, yet the major cities of Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and York are all within easy striking distance by car or train. Numerous stately homes such as Chatsworth are within reach of a day or half-day trip, as are other attractions such as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Museum of Mining (which offers underground tours), and the Blue John Caverns. Further afield, the Lake District and Snowdonia in North Wales are within 2-3 hours' drive, as are the seaside resorts of Scarborough, Whitby, and Blackpool. London is 3 hours away by train.
