Lydia is a writer (mostly historical fiction) and teaches academic writing through the Royal Literary Fund, while Martin is the director of a communications agency which specialises in education. Our daughter Phoebe, 22, is in the final year of a degree in English literature at Oxford University, so lives away in term time, as does our oldest son, Adam, 19, who is in his first year of a degree in Social Anthropology at Manchester University. Our twin boys, Rufus and Solomon, are still at school, and next year will specialise in Art, Art History, languages and maths. We have a delightful cat.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Bright, spacious and comfortable four-storey Victorian house with lovely sunny gardens front and back in a quiet residential street close to both a large supermarket and plenty of independent shops. Very easy access to Central London and lots of local parks, cafes, restaurants and museums in the immediate neighbourhood.. Ten minutes walk from Peckham, East Dulwich and Camberwell. 20-25 min from door by train to Victoria, Blackfriars and London Bridge (nearest stations are Denmark Hill, East Dulwich and Peckham Rye). Direct buses to London Eye, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Globe Theatre, National Theatre, IMAX and many other attractions. Helpful and friendly neighbours. We now have a charming and affectionate young Burmese cat who needs looking after. (NB Some photos show older cats.) Large open-plan ground floor with sitting-room, kitchen and dining room opening onto the well-maintained back garden, a second sitting room with piano and TV upstairs, and three further bedrooms available out of four possibilities - one single, two double, one with two very comfortable singles, including a high bed, depending on preference. We have a family bathroom, an extra shower room, and two toilets, one ensuite. No shortage of books to read, and a vast collection of classic films on DVD, including rare 1930s and 40s collections.
For summers, we're usually looking for a quiet, rural spot in Europe or the UK near somewhere we can swim and walk - we prefer lakes, sea, rivers.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in a quiet, friendly residential area which is quite bohemian, with a wealth of independent small shops, art galleries and eating places. It's between family-friendly East Dulwich and trendy (hipster-style) Peckham. Excellent transport networks. Easy free parking right outside, and fantastic access to London's best theatres e.g. Shakespeare's Globe, the National Theatre, the Young Vic, the Old Vic.
