Read More...Welcome to the "pura vida" at the terrasse of Stefan and Marleen's house with the nice garden. ! It is a welcoming house with everything you need. An ideal place to visit the beautiful city of brugges and the sourronding area by car or bike or train. The longest trip by bike, we made, was to the sea side at Wenduine, 17 km one way. Beach access at Surf School "Surfing Elephant" Bike infrastructure is ideal in that area. see www.vflaanderen-Fietsland.be. Good bike map: Falk edition Fietskaart "Belgische Kust met Brugge No 30" A nice bike tour we made ended in Damme and back along the channel. With car and our bike transportation unit to Sluise in Netherland and then a bike tour to Cadzand-Bad beach beside the beach view restaurant "De Zeemeeuw" with sea view is worth a day trip. We went every early morning with car in 15 minutes to Wenduine at the "Surfing Elephant" beach area for swimming in North Sea and back to breakfast at the shady terasse! The early bird catches the worm! Fresh bread and all kind of food we bought in the grocery shop "De Versmarkt" just around the corner - 3 minutes with the bike. There you can buy everything needed to survive in the Großstadt-Dschungel - also precooked dishes like Paella and belgian beer! Belgian beer sorts are unsurpassed ! We had no chance to taste all the different breweries. We liked Brugge's old houses and sitting in one of the beer gardens in the central town despite of Corona situation and mandatory face mask when walking on the streets in central town area. But because of Corona there were no daytime tourist from Cruise ships boarding at Zeebrugge. Just bike to "Markt" central place in the evening an listen to live organ concert from the bells of the church between 21-22 h! And sunset red light on the the church tower ! You will never forget this impression. Brugge might be the most beautifull city of Europe. And we visited the small village just before arriving at Wenduine: Nieuwmunster with the old church and nice houses. And we had a nice bike trip to nature park around "Tillegem bos" with old trees and blooming heather in the south west of Brugge city: Nature museum and restaurant with Beer garden "Beisproek" and back via Castles "Tudor" and "Tillegembos". And watch the horses drinking water at the end of their city round trip as horse coach while taking a cafe at restaurant "Maximiliaan van Oostenrijk" at Wijngaardplein 16 - in front of entry to Bengijnhof. They also offer daily a Lunch Menu of 3 courses for 16 Euro amd reasonable quality and very friendly service. We made twice a bike trip / round tour along the city wall and Ringvaart channel until "Dampoort", from there back to city center along the road along the channel ("Potterierei" straat and Spinolarei straat) to the wonderfull Jan van Eyck plein (Place with several restaurants). Take a cafe at Bistro Restaurant "Bruut" in Meesstraat with 3 tables directly on the historical bridge over the channel. We really enjoyed the meal we found at arrival in your house and many thanks for the Brugse Zot special bear glass and belgian beer! Several evenings we were sitting in a Pub were local people take a "sunset beer" at west side of the t'Zand place and watching the red sunset colour shining opposite side on the roof of the houses and church towers - similar to Bavarian "Alpenglühen" ! So next homelink visitors have a lot to enjoy when coming to Brugge - as we did this summer 2020 ! Thank you very much for the hospitality ! Inge and Hanno from Puchheim/Munich/Bavaria/Germany/Europe.
