We are Hans (60) and Brigitte (57). Hans is retired and Brigitte is a language teacher in a high school and is semi-retired. We are grandparents of two grandchildren. We have made more than 40 home exchanges, so we are certainly devoted travellers. We are both interested in literature and art. We love to cycle and to make extensive walks in nature. But we love to stroll through cities too and go to galleries and museums.

It was difficult to remember we were on the edge of quite a large town .We appreciated being able to get into Brugge so easily by bus. There is so much to see and so many galleries to visit in Brugge that we didn't have time to explore the area further apart from a day trip to Ghent. Our evening meals in the "pub" a few minutes walk from your house and conversations with local people were a bonus.

Merci.

Read More...Hi Brigitte and Hans, it has been a pleasure to have you and your friends here as our exchange partners. Everything looked perfectly well when we returned, and we could tell that you have been treating our belongings with care. We ourselves had a grand time in your beautiful and artsy home. You have done an admirable job in your garden, and we enjoyed its view and the sound of the water every day. It is like a little paradise, very relaxing. We enjoyed biking into Bruges so much that we never took the bus. It took us only 12 minutes by bike, and we were not going very fast. It was so beautiful to look at the medieval houses while passing by, the seagulls were sailing above our heads, and we enjoyed the slow pace of Bruges which is so different from the hustle and bustle in Berlin. Thank you for having us in your home, and for the easy communication between us right from the beginning. Enjoy the rest of summer! Warmest regards, Elke

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
The spacious modern house is very functional and has all possible comfort. It has 3 bedrooms. Two with each a comfortable double bed and one with a single bed. A large bathroom with bath and a spacious walk-in shower. Kitchen is complete and has all possible comfort. Trees and hedges surround the private garden. There is a small lake and a large terrace.
The house stands in a residential area. It is rural (wood and natural reservation one step away), very quiet and safe. Nevertheless, you are only 2,5 miles away from the famous historical centre of Bruges. You reach the heart of the city by bike (15 minutes), by bus (1 minute walk to the bus stop) or by car (10 minutes).
Bruges is a beautiful preserved medieval city and is especially known as one of the most romantic spots in the world. Canals cross it and this cultural-historical masterpiece is entirely declared WORLD HERITAGE OF THE UNESCO.
