Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is located 0.7km from the centre of the village of Alstonville, which has supermarket, bakeries, butchers, heritage listed hotel, coffee shops etc. Our friendly village of 4000 inhabitants is located on the Alstonville Plateau just 10 km from the Pacific Ocean. The area is blessed with a sub-tropical climate that supports avocado, macadamia and coffee industries. It is just 20-30 minutes from numerous surfing beaches including internationally famous surfing spots at Byron Bay and Lennox Head. There are many art and craft markets plus award-winning cafes and restaurants. Major regional events include Byron Bay Writers Festival and the Byron Bay Blues Festival. Numerous coastal and mountainous National Parks have excellent walking tracks and extensive rainforests. Alstonville is located just 15 minutes drive west of the Ballina-Byron Regional Jet Airport, 60 minutes drive south of the Gold Coast International Airport and 2 hours south of the Brisbane International Airport.
