We are a British/Irish family with two boys aged 13 and 10 and have been living in Vienna for around six years. We always respect our homelink partners' homes as we would wish to have ours respected in return.
We've previously enjoyed several exchanges to France, UK, and Spain and have welcomed Homelink visitors from Germany, Canada, Ireland and Belgium when we have been away ourselves.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Modern, bright and welcoming home with garden in green area close to the Alte Donau (old river), underground stations (Kagran/Alte Donau/ Donaustadtbrucke) and shopping centre (DonauZentrum).
Our home has 3 bedrooms (2 doubles and 1 with bunk bed + pull-out bed), open plan living area, games room/study with XBox, Wii, and garden with patio area, BBQ, etc.
The Alte Donau is a lovely area with walking/cycle/roller-blading paths, boating, swimming areas, and restaurants. The house also has very easy access to the centre of town with a bus stop 20 metres away which goes directly to the U1 or U2 metro lines in a few stops.
We have a number of bikes available for use during stays and a large trampoline in the garden during the summer.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is in a green and residential area with easy access to the centre of Vienna, ie public transport takes around 25 minutes. There are buses from just outside the house to the metro - U1 line (Kagran) and U2 (Donaustadtbrucke).
We are also very close to the Alte Donau - part of the old Danube which blocked off to form a lake. It has lovely cycle/blading/walking paths, places to swim (including jumping platforms) and sunbathe, several places to rent out boats or pedaloes, sailing/wind surfing schools and even a wake boarding area. There are some nice restaurants along the waterfront and it's easy to get on to the Donau Insel for more cycling. There is a nice park within 5 minutes walk with large green area, swings, climbing frames etc.
For the winter, there's a great ice rink close by near Kagran and the park has a small hill for sledging.
There are several supermarkets in walking distance and the Donau Zentrum shopping centre is close by at Kagran.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
In addition to the attractions of our neighbourhood listed in the previous section, Vienna has a wealth of cultural attractions and activities for all ages. There are some lovely museums, including for children, art galleries, concerts, operas, and also seasonal events.
At Easter there are some lovely markets, at Christmas markets and outdoor ice rinks, and summer the Donau Insel outdoor music festival, international film festival and possibilities to swim, cycle, and hike.
The Alte Donau in the summer is wonderful and is only a 5 minute walk - we have a stand-up paddle board and blow-up dingy which can be taken down to the river. For kids, and adults, there are lots of places to jump in, sunbathe, take out pedaloes, etc! We also have a number of bikes which can be used.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
As we are already quite familiar with these countries, we are not looking for exchanges in Belgium, Germany or the Netherlands.
We are interested in visiting the US this year - New York and/or Boston - but also open to other exchange possibilities.
For those with allergies, we do have a dog (border collie} called Kantu, although he would not be at the house during exchanges. For exchanges within driving distance, we might be interested in bringing Kantu with us, if that's not a problem, or we can make other plans for him.
As we are sometimes away visiting family or friends, we are always happy to welcome homelink partners to Vienna.
