Description of the home we are offering for exchange
PLEASE NOTE
We are retired and so able to be very flexible in our exchanges - so if you fancy a stay in our home at any time, please get in touch and we will do our best to make it possible.( We will answer all enquiries.)
We have a modern brick home with large windows which provide great natural light and overlook our native Australian garden. It is roomy and very comfortable - all of our exchange partners thus far have loved it.
The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and walk-in robe, and a queen size bed. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed and is adjacent to the main bathroom. The third bedroom has a single bed and is also adjacent to the main bathroom.
There is an open plan kitchen-dining-family room, plus separate lounge, and dining rooms.
Our family room opens onto a patio-outdoor area where we often eat in the warmer months.
The house is located in a quiet court (of just 5 houses) and we have great neighbours who are friendly and always ready to help our visitors.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Bendigo is a very pleasant rural city of approx 100000 people with all the facilities and amenities you would expect. It is located in central Victoria within easy driving/train distance of Melbourne and other tourist areas. It has a number of interesting, historical buildings which date from Bendigo's importance as a key player in the 1850's Goldrush days.
We have typical Australian bush within 400m of our home and regularly see kangaroos and many birds on our walks through this. There are vineyards and wineries, excellent restaurants, a top class Art gallery, Theatre and cinemas, library, a complete range of sports facilities, all within 10km of our house, and we have a great temperate climate.
Our 'central' location gives access to a number of other enjoyable tourist spots - virtually all within range for a day excursion.
We have travelled much of Australia and would willingly assist in your planning of a visit to our country if you wish to ask.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Interesting day trips can be made to the Murray River at Echuca, Ballarat Historical Village, Melbourne attractions ( we have around 20 return train schedules daily ) and there are wineries and cellar door sales, golf courses, thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing, bushwalking and cycling tracks, and native bush areas to explore, all within minutes of our door.
In Bendigo itself there are numerous restaurants, bars and Bistros, of various types - and a plethora of coffee shops - all are very well regarded.
There is a sufficient range of shops to ensure that virtually anything can be purchased without going beyond the city - and we have a good supermarket and several small shops in our own village. In fact, Bendigo has just last week been voted Wotif's "Best town in Australia", which is I guess a feather in our caps!
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We really only ask that you treat our house as you would your own, as we will do to yours. You are welcome to have friends accompany you here - or join you if they are also in Australia. We are non-smokers and do not wish people to smoke in the house.
