Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Welcome to our home in South Fremantle just three minutes walk from the beach. Our house, the original front section built in 1912, has been extended and modernized so it’s comfortable and easy to live in. It has plenty of space and has a gentle holiday feel. We have three bedrooms, two large living spaces, a separate study with stand up desk, an open kitchen and a bathroom/laundry and two toilets. Our low maintenance garden has a fenced swimming pool, and an outdoor eating area with barbecue. We live in a 'dead end' street which is friendly and quiet and we have great neighbours. We have a library with a good selection of books about our local history that you are welcome to borrow.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The original name for our ‘village’ was Chesterfield. It used to be the working class suburb of Fremantle but its proximity to the ocean means it has now become one of the most desirable locations in Perth. Our street has a strong community and we have great neighbours in all directions. Nearby beaches, protected by the offshore islands of Rottnest and Garden Island, are safe and particularly suitable for swimming. Travel north or south for the surf! There are friendly beach cafés for your early morning coffee, a children’s playground and food trucks by the beach on a Saturday evening in summer. Within walking distance are shops for fresh organic produce, a fabulous fresh fish shop, supermarkets and a liquor store selling local beers and wine.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

From our home you can cycle or walk into ‘Freo’ or catch the free CAT bus to explore the fascinating history and heritage of this port city including the World Heritage listed Fremantle Prison. Take a break at one of the many café’s or bars and taste the exquisite seafood and fresh produce Western Australia is famous for.
Travel half an hour to Perth by car, bus or train to see why one of the world’s most isolated cities attracts such international attention and if you have time, go further to experience the shipwreck coast, the goldfields, the outback, the forests and the bush.
We respectfully acknowledge the original Aboriginal custodians of this land.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

When we return home we would like to find our house as we leave it, as we will for you. If you have any problems while you are staying we have a great group of neighbours who will give you tips on how to use an appliance, or help you find anything you need. Children are welcome but we ask that you ‘child-proof’ the house by moving breakables out of reach etc when you arrive. Thanks.
