Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Although we have said simultaneous and non simultaneous home exchanges, we do prefer if those in the Northern Hemisphere who would like to exchange in our summer , your winter months would be non simultaneous, we will vacate our home by either going somewhere or staying with family or friends, so you can stay in our home in our summer months {except over Christmas and some of January). It is too cold for me to stay in a winter climate for too long. We would prefer, Spring , Summer or Autumn to visit the Northern Hemisphere.

As we have a large family, Christmas is important to us so we prefer to be home at that time of year and do not like to exchange during Christmas and some of January

We are experienced exchangers who will treat your house and your belongings with respect and leave your home clean and tidy for your return.

We sometimes travel with friends and would like them to stay in your home with us, you of course are very welcome to also have friends stay. We only ask that you let us know in advance if extras will be staying, and we will certainly let you know if we are bringing friends.

Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have queen size beds, the other a single bed with trundle, which can be used as two single beds or put together for another queen size bed.
We have a PC plus we also have WIFI, if you wish to bring your laptop or tablet.
We have a modern laundry & kitchen with many appliances & good quality pans & sharp knives if you love to cook. There is a large airy dining room with cathedral ceilings & a living room, with a partially sectioned off study at the back of the house overlooking the canal. We have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Stan with Stan Sport, Kayo Sports , which you are welcome to use, as well as the free to air channels and free to air catch up channels.
We have an ensuite off the master bedroom & another bathroom with separate W.C.
We have a 2 car garage with automatic door.
The house has 2 split system reverse cycle air conditioners to keep it cool in our hot summers, you can also use it to keep warm although our winters are fairly mild. We have a 5 kilowatt solar system on our roof so do not have electricity bills, so please feel free to use the air conditioner as much as you wish. We also have solar hot water.
Outside we have a large outdoor table and chairs undercover, a BBQ and the best feature in summer is our pool. The salt water pool is fully automated so you need not worry about cleaning it or adding chemicals to keep it sparkling.

Our home being all on one level and open plan is very easy to for those with mobility issues to use. The Shower in the main bathroom has no step up, so is also suited.
We have said no children, it is mainly because we have a pool and live on a canal.

In summary we live in a lovely part of the world and would love to share our piece of paradise with you. We are quite happy to accommodate travelling companions with you, as long as you let us know. We often travel with travel companions too and will always let you know if there are more than just the two of us.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live on a man made canal with access to the bay. Our suburb is on a Peninsula, 3 sides surrounded by water. There are plenty of walking & cycling paths. There are safe bay beaches, parks with picnic and BBQ facilities and also outdoor gym equipment in some of them.
The pop group the Bee Gees lived here on the Peninsula when they were growing up and their first performances were here. We now have a
wonderful laneway called Bee Gees Way as a tribute to them, with information, memorabilia, and their songs playing continually. It has become very popular with visitors and regular day trippers from Brisbane etc.
During the Whale season, ( June to mid October) there are regular tours and almost certain sightings of the whales during their migration.
Redcliffe is the first settlement city of Queensland.
There are several festivals held during the year, one of the most popular is the Festival of Sails, held each year on Good Friday in conjunction with the Sailing Yacht Race, Brisbane to Gladstone. The Yachts do a Spinnaker run off Suttons Beach, where the Festival is held.
There are now several restaurants on the waterfront on Redcliffe Parade, such as Italian, Indian, Thai, Mexican, as well as other cafes, clubs and pubs.
Every Sunday on Redcliffe Parade the Parade is closed to traffic as the Jetty Markets are held. These have a farmers Market as well as all sorts of other things. It is a great morning out. We get our eggs there, a great price and so fresh, but you must get there early. There is also a Butchers van, the meat is great. We usually buy our herb and spice blends from a stall there, we have several of them in the pantry, help yourself if you need them in your cooking.
There are several supermarkets and a few specialty shops, however about 15-20 minutes drive is the Westfield Shopping Centre with major department stores and several specialty shops and boutiques at Northlakes as well as Ikea and Costco.
We have a large Public Hospital, and a Private Hospital, the area is well served with Family Doctors (GP) and Specialists.
The Redcliffe Peninsula is well served by public transport such as buses and we now have a train service ( something we waited over a hundred years for.
The Sunshine Coast with its great surf beaches is about an hour drive north, and the Gold Coast ninety minutes drive south.
We have found the Redcliffe Peninsula a great place to live.
