Description of the home we are offering for exchange
I'm looking to travel to Britain in 2017 for anything from 2 weeks to 4 weeks to do some tours of gardens. I am also interested in three day long weekends (Saturday to Monday) anywhere in south east New South Wales or one to two weeks anywhere in Australia or New Zealand. At present I'm arranging to do some garden tours of Southern England and France.
The exchange is a quaint (1920s), iconically Australian three (this year two) bedroom home, with two verandahs, one north-facing, the other south-facing (good for winter and summer). Open plan, timber floors, efficient wood heating. Sunny indoor spaces for sitting and reading, watching TV or DVDs and listening to music. There is a good electronic keyboard if you like to play music. There is also wireless broadband internet connection.
In the back yard is a large productive eight-year-old garden, with lots of trees and places to sit, read and relax

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
My neighbourhood is very quiet. It is a short walk to public transport, 5 minutes to the train station with three services a day to and from Sydney, and a 10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket, public swimming pool, hospital, chemist, doctor, dentist, optometrist. The view beyond the street I am in is of open rural areas and forests.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
My home is 10 minutes from Canberra, Australia's capital, with a population of around 350,000. Canberra has five universities, many national cultural attractions, including the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, the Australian War Memorial and the National Museum of Australia. It also has more restaurants per head of population than any other Australian city, and in recent years has developed a reputation as being quite hip, with new eating and shopping precincts in the inner city.
