We are a retired couple who have recently downsized to an apartment overlooking the St Kilda Yatch Club. We have enjoyed many house-sits/exchanges and, after a short (COVID) lapse, hope to get going again, locally initially, and maybe overseas.

Lovely to walk along the foreshore & use the cafes & restaurants & pay several visits to South Melbourne Market (much nicer than the huge Vic Market in the city!). However, transport into the city was so easy we made the most of it & had a great time. Hope to welcome you to Dorset sometime in the future. June & Alan

We too could return again because there is so much more to do. Thanks for the use of your very comfortable home. Graham & Daphne

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are a retired couple with connections to Italy. We are now considering overseas travel since COVID but will consider an exchange anywhere in Australia. Our apartment is compact, easy-to-maintain, ground floor with 2 patios - one overlooking the St Kilda Yatch club. We are within 10 minutes walk for each of 3 trams to Melbourne city. Ideally located as a base for exploring the southern States of Victoria and Tasmania. We are close to all transport - trams, trains, air and sea terminals and all the attractions of Melbourne and nearby St Kilda - shopping, theatres, galleries, night life, botanical gardens, jogging/sporting facilities, swimming pool complex, golf course, Albert Park lake, beaches and our excellent local food market. There are many very good restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance of our house. One and a half hours by car to the Great Ocean Road and the surf coast. Melbourne was until recently assessed "The Most Livable City in the World" by The Economist Intelligence Unit.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
St Kilda is one of the oldest suburbs of Melbourne with heritage buildings and homes. It has been rejuvenated with many homes carefully and sensitively renovated. It is part of the progressive City of Port Phillip, based in St Kilda, centre of Melbourne night-life. It is a diverse, vibrant community with respect for the environment and social equity. Very friendly, helpful neighbours within the apartment complex. We have access to a pool, sauna and tennis court.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
From our apartment we can walk the foreshore -1 km to St Kilda (pier, pubs, penguins, cafes, cake shops, restaurants) or 4kms to Port Melbourne. We shop at the amazing Sth Melbourne market - 4 stops on the tram - and the adjacent supermarket. If we want a coffee or a restaurant meal we walk around the corner or walk to Middle Park village, or 3 tram stops to Albert Park village. We walk, daily, along the beach or around nearby Albert Park lake. The bike path across the road goes either way around Port Phillip Bay for 10-15Kms. You can stop regularly for coffee and end at beach-side places for lunch. Hire bikes available. The near-by Sports and Aquatic Centre has many pools, including a 'wave-rider', and many indoor sports activities (squash, table tennis, badminton, basketball etc ) We can decide on the spur of the moment to go to the city, go for a walk, a concert or an event in one of Melbourne's city squares, all handy by tram. Every Sunday there are artisan markets at St Kilda or in the city.
