Perfekt beliggenhet for dagsturer til The Burren, Galway og Cliffs of Moors.

Mainz is really a pleasant city: we enjoyed the Gutenberg museum with its very expensive bibles, and most of all, the Saturday morning market with a glass of local wine and a snack. We made a marvellous, long but easy walk from the house to Nierstein along the Rheinterrassenweg, along vineyards and great viewpoints on the Rhine. In a few words: our time was too short. We’ve met Maria and Stefan in Ghent, and it was a pleasure to meet such cordial and interesting people.

Read More...Maria and Stefan live in nice house in a very quiet neighbourhood, and they have a large garden. We particularly liked their kitchen. It is about 15 minutes walking to Pariser Tor, where you find many buses and trams, but there is also a nice walk (downhill) into the city. We also walked from the house into the vineyards (Rheinterrassenweg). You need to plan a bit your shopping, since there are no shops nearby. Try to be in Mainz on a Saturday morning: the market is fantastic, full of friendly people drinking a glass of excellent wine! There are enough things to do (great museums) to keep you busy for at least three days, and we made nice daytrips to Wiesbaden, Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Bingen. So, a week was actually too short!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
