Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home is a newly renovated historic house built in 1840 with unique round walls and original fixtures. The 3-bedroom home has stone hearth, beautiful sun porch and open layout. The yard is fully fenced in and very kid-friendly with bikes-galore, a playhouse, swing set, strollers, beach gear, and vegetable gardens growing in the summer. For the adults, we have a great grill, a bbq fire pit and plenty of toys to occupy the kids.
The room we appreciate the most is our mud room because we love playing outside and getting dirty - building castles in the sand box, puddle jumping after a rain fall or digging in the gardens.
It is the perfect place for low-key relaxing vacation with some day adventures to soak up the sun and fresh Maine air.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighborhood is the quintessential local Maine community where the local community works, lives, and plays. We know all of our neighbors by first name and it is really safe.
It is the perfect location to walk everywhere and explore a seaside town in an authentic Maine community that is not taken over by tourism.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Rockland offers a really unique and vibrant art and food scene where you can indulge in food for the body and soul. We are centrally located so you can walk everywhere!
We are:
— 1 block from the Co-op,
— 1 block from The Claw - best seafood in Maine for family dining,
— 3 blocks from a large grocery store,
— 1 block from the ocean and a great beach for exploring,
— 1/2 mile from downtown Rockland
Downtown Rockland has a great boardwalk and waterfront dining. There are many parks, beaches, hiking trails and State Parks within a 20 minute drive or less. Acadia National is about 2 hours north and Portland, Maine is about 1 1/2 hour south.
You can fly right into Rockland via Cape Air. Portland and Bangor are also close-ish airports (about 1 1/2 hour away).
Rockland also hosts the Atlantic Blues Festival, Lobster Festival, Summer Solstice Party and many more family (and adult) fun events.
Go lobstering for a day, sailing on a tall ship, or beach combing. Choose you own adventure!
