Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our wish list includes exploration of Spain, France, Netherlands and Scotland but we could very well be tempted to other
destinations closer to home until the world gets back to normal.

Our home is a spacious 3 storey terraced Victorian town house in the beautiful area of Clifton in Bristol.

The house has a large kitchen/dining room/ lounge. it has become the heart of the house where the whole family can spend time together. The double doors can be opened fully to enjoy the patio and garden. At the front of the house there is a lounge/study with many original features, cool in summer and cosy in the winter.

On the first floor there are two bedrooms with vintage double beds. There is also a large shower room, with toilet on this floor.

On the 2nd floor is the master bedroom with a queen sized bed. Across the hall is a sunny bathroom with a roll-top bath.

We have lots of games for families, table tennis, and if necessary travel cot for smaller guests.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We are lucky to live in the very beautiful and historic area of Bristol a vibrant city in the west country. Bristol has been voted as the greenest, happiest, coolest city in the Uk to live or visit regularly in recent years, which when you come and stay will not surprise. Creative spirit and irreverence are part of its DNA.
During the summer months Bristol hosts almost weekly festivals: hot air balloon, music, food, dance, graffiti, boat, all on our doorstep. A fun city for kids of all ages.

We live in a great walking city which took the European green capital status in 2015, but be warned it is very hilly. We live off Constitution Hill well named for all walking up.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

A short walk up into Clifton village takes you to lovely restaurants , cafes, antique shops. There is a beautiful Victorian arcade with independent shops to browse. Continue through the village and head to the suspension bridge for views and green spaces. Over the bridge Ashton court parkland is a great place for pay and play golf of the traditional variety as well as football and
disk golf. You can also hire mountain bikes to enjoy the trails or simply walk around the grounds.

Alternatively head down to the dockside to see people living and playing on the water. Here you will find museums and art centres. The Brunels ship the SS great Britain is a great attraction. The price of one entry you can visit again and again. It is a refurbished ship that shows you how life was for passengers and staff in Victorian times.
The dock side boasts critically acclaimed restaurants and independent shops in a host of developed cargo containers. A great place to hang out.

Newly opened this year is The Wave (the only in the UK) it’s an inland surfing experience where you can test your surfing skills on a 180m long lake. The surf ranges from 1.5ft to 6.5ft arriving every 10 seconds so suitable for beginners to the best boarders.

Further afield Georgian Bath is 15 mins on the train. London is less than 2hours train ride.

If you want to see the sea, Clevedon and Portishead is approximately 30mins drive. The dramatic Dorset Jurassic coats is 90 mins.

Bristol is a great base to exploring the culture and countryside of the west country.
