Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Modernized 1926 Marina-style house right next to the Glen Park neighborhood ready for a fun and authentic SF getaway.

1200 square feet upstairs with 2 bedrooms (Queen, twin bunk), a full bath, modern kitchen, dining area and light filled front parlor. Downstairs through an outdoor, enclosed staircase or through a street level private entrance and through a tidy garage is a 600 square foot 2 bedroom apartment with one double bed, one queen. There is another full kitchen and a small living room. Another bathroom with a shower is located along a carpeted path just inside the garage -- they don't call it the City that Knows How for nothing! Ideal for couples travelling together or a two small families, or a larger family that need some space.

Upstairs the rear doors lead to a deck over looking lush California gardens (our neighbors!) and down the stairs to the lower patio where you'll find a 12' wide 3' tall skateboard half pipe (please bring & wear a helmet!) nestled in the greenery.

Car exchange available -- fully electric 4-door Chevy Bolt for city jaunts and a 5 person wagon (Acura TSX) with a large roof box and bike rack if you want to get out of town. Camping & biking gear available too.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our neighborhood is called Sunnyside, and we're on the eastern edge of it, next to the Glen Park neighborhood. Clean and safe while still having access to all that SF has to offer. Glen Park village has grocery stores, cafes, restaurants and the Glen Park BART (metro) station. Glen Canyon Park is nearby and offers a big playground, rec center with indoor climbing wall and beautiful wilderness for hiking.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

By foot, our house is located a 10 minute flat (for SF) walk west of the Glen Park BART Station which runs from SFO to downtown and the East Bay. You'll also find Glen Park Village there, a charming urban enclave of storefronts and restaurants. A 10 minute walk out of the village and you can reach Glen Canyon, a beautiful urban wilderness with hikes, rock climbing and wild life spotting. Get to the top of the Canyon and you can continue your hike to the top of Twin Peaks -- the highest point in the city.

By bike from our home, it's a easy 10 minute downhill ride into the Mission District and onto the South of Market (SOMA) neighborhood and beyond, and an even easier BART ride back.

Hop in a car and head west 10 minutes and you will reach the pacific ocean. A 10 minute drive northwest brings you to Golden Gate park, and further onward to Marin. We day trip to Sonoma and Marin counties regularly, as well as south as far as Santa Cruz.

Lyfts and Ubers arrive in <5 minutes and private rides downtown cost $15~$20.
