I am a retired lawyer. I have done 77 home exchanges! Generally I travel by myself but sometimes I bring a friend. It has never been more than that. I like to go anywhere. I generally try and do at least 2 home exchanges back to back if I leave North America but there are no hard and fast rules. At this point in the pandemic, I will only consider your area if covid is at low levels and you have been vaccinated. I have had the shots and 3 boosters (a combination of Pfizer & Moderna).
I began home exchanging in 1990 and have been all over Western Europe but there is still plenty to see there. There is also plenty to see in North America and I would love to get exchanges in more unusual areas. Just ask. You never know.
I am always interested in proposals in the Pacific Northwest, as I have family there.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Give me an offer I can't refuse! I will go anywhere and like unusual destinations.
The townhouse has 3 stories and 3 bedrooms. It has 3 1/2 bathrooms. Two bathrooms have shower stalls, one has a tub/shower and the last one just has a toilet and sink. I prefer adults only. I am retired and simply do not have the things for small children anymore.
Please note: My home is very clean and I hope yours is too. After all the home exchanging I've done, I want clean well maintained homes.
Due to the pandemic, I am only searching for exchanges within the US.
I am always interested in Oregon as I have family there.
I DO NOT CARE FOR PETS as part of a home exchange beyond tropical fish. So, if you need pet care for cats and dogs, I will not exchange with you. Pet people should swap with other pet people--at least that is my belief. Also, I do not welcome your pets into my house.
Please send me requests only if you are absolutely committed, offering your principal residence (I do not exchange for vacation homes unless they are included with the principal residence), and are including a car with the exchange (I always include mine) unless you live in a major city with good public transportation. I do not do final commitments more than a year in advance because, every time I have done that, it has ended in a cancellation.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
My home is located in a suburban development of over 200 townhouses. The Orange (West Falls Church) or Silver (McLean) Metro stops are a short drive away. Parking is available at the stations. There is also a bus that runs downtown during rush hour Monday-Friday. The bus stop is a short walk from the house and some exchangers have found that more convenient than using Metro if they plan on coming home with the evening rush hour.
My Toyota Prius is included with the exchange.
There are public pool and tennis courts available.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Washington, DC, is the main attraction here. The townhouse development is a short drive from Metro. My Toyota Prius is included in case you want to do day trips.. Driving (and parking!) in Washington, DC, is not recommended. Metro is much easier. In addition to the monuments, US Capitol, White House and Smithsonian Museums available by Metro, you can also easily drive to George Washington's home, Mount Vernon. The Gettysburg battlefield is about 1 1/4 hours away. There are many Civil War battlefields in Virginia, as most of the Civil War was fought in Virginia.
Day trips (or overnights) can easily be made to Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello and the Amish Country in Pennsylvania.

No small children please and no more than 4 people. Given my stage of life, the house is suitable for adults only. I will consider older teenagers.. No plant or pet care is required. Please note that I will not take care of pets on an exchange beyond dealing with tropical fish.
Please note that I will not consider your home if it does not have an internet connection. I also need a car exchange unless you are in a central city with good public transportation. I live 2-3 miles from my subway stops (there are 2 different lines). You need a car to get to the subway. You park in the parking there to take public transport into town. It is much more convenient that taking the car there! You mostly use the car to drive to the subway stops or to do day trips outside of the area.
Due to the pandemic, I am considering home exchanges only within the USA at this time.
