I’m a single retired psychotherapist who loves travel, good food and wine, theatre (watching and performing), cooking, and throwing parties. I worked for the military, treating veterans, retirees, and their families for almost 20 years. I used to practice law. I travel either with a friend, a married retired female from New Orleans, whose husband doesn’t like to travel, or with my sister, a retired children’s librarian who lives in Houston. I’ve been studying French but am not yet confident enough to say that I speak it.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighborhood is quiet and residential, but also has numerous shops and restaurants as well as a major tourist attraction (Lincoln’s Cottage) three blocks from my house. DC’s major tourist attractions and cultural centers, including theatres, museums, and memorials are all easily accessible by the nearby metro. There is a major park (Rock Creek Park) less than five miles away, which offers a variety of outdoor activities such as horseback riding, kayaking, and biking.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There are restaurants, bars, and shopping close by. A short metro ride takes you to the heart of DC with numerous museums (many of them free of charge), a world-class zoo (again, no charge), theatres, and world-class restaurants. There is a large park less than five miles from my house.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
The cats are indoor only (they’re not interested in going out, so this isn’t a problem). I have a housekeeper who will come when you leave (and housekeeping while you’re there is negotiable) so there’s no need to do a real cleaning; please just leave it in decent condition.
