Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Located in the historic village of Agua Fria, this adobe hacienda is authentic Santa Fe. It is located on a quiet cul-de-sac, which used to be El Camino Real, the royal road from Mexico to the northern province. Originally, in the early 1900s, there were three adobes built by three brothers. Later “the women from back East” joined the houses, making a 7000 square foot building. When I bought it 10 years ago, it was a college of Chinese Medicine. I recently moved into the main 2000 square foot self-contained unit and did extensive remodeling. I have a Great Room, a large kitchen, two bedrooms with queen beds, and one bath. I am now landscaping the adjoining field and have added a pond and waterfall for outdoor relaxation.

This two-acre property has a quiet country atmosphere, yet is only 6 miles south of the central Plaza in downtown Santa Fe, a short 15-minute drive to galleries, museums, shopping, and restaurants. There are markets and restaurants within a mile or two of the house, five minutes by car. It is near the 599 By-pass, so has easy access to Albuquerque and northern New Mexico. You do need a car; I offer my 2006 AWD Volvo for exchange.

There are friendly and discreet neighbors on the property, all mature adults. There is a fenced back yard, still waiting for more landscaping; currently there is a comfortable patio with a grill. This is a very peaceful location, on the plain near the riverbed, with mountain views and lots of sky.

I live alone and please note, the cat you will see in my photos is no longer with me. I now have a brother and sister cats who are two years old and friendly but independant. I’ve done lots of wonderful exchanges from my previous property, and now I’m pleased to offer this uniquely beautiful, well-appointed adobe, situated on the edge of the charming city of Santa Fe. I usually travel alone, but sometimes a friend joins me.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

My house is in the historic village of Agua Fria, which is a peaceful corner of greater Santa Fe, 6 miles south of the historic downtown Plaza. It is part of a compound of mature adults, who are helpful yet discreet. Santa Fe and the Southwest are major tourist destinations for art, history, and nature.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

From my house, it is a short drive to the galleries,, shopping, restaurants, and museums of downtown Santa Fe. There is a bus to downtown in walking distance. For everywhere else, a car is required. There are attractive walks from the house. A quick 5 minute drive accesses supermarkets, cafes, cinemas, and a large mall. A few blocks to the west is the entrance to the highway system connecting Santa Fe to Albuquerque and northern New Mexico with all the cultural and outdoor activities. of those areas. It is about 30 minutes across town to the ski basin and mountain hiking. I have lived in Santa Fe for 30 years and am still finding new interests to explore. There are also the Native American pueblos and ancient ruins. There are local artists and craftspeople and wineries to visit in the surrounding country.
