Heaven on earth
We had a wonderful time in Hayes! We could not ask for anything better. The house, the beach, the people... Everything was perfect. Thank you Paula and Steve!

We are a large and loving family who enjoy skiing, the beach, boating, good food, music and travel. We have had three really wonderful exchanges so far and hope to see more of the world that way . Our oldest 4 oldest kids are in college or post grad so don't often get to travel with us. We enjoy animals and are happy to care for those at a home exchange (but you do not have to take care of ours if you'd rather not.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We are seeking exchanges in the USA in both Rhode Island and the Florida Gulf Coast.
Beautifully situated on St. Brendan's Point, you will revel in a water view from every window of our lovely home. In the morning, savor a cup of coffee as you watch the sun rise over the water. Spend the day fishing, boating, crabbing, gathering oysters, or swimming. We have a small private beach, where you can watch the sun set over the water as you, and your family, enjoy beach volleyball and dinner at the fire pit. Take a day or two to visit historic Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, or the Yorktown Battlefield or Busch Gardens, all about 30 minutes away. We have 4 bedrooms, 3 of which have a queen bed & one which has a queen bed & a set of bunkbeds. All have their own full bath. This home has a huge gourmet kitchen, an elevator, finished basement with full bath and pool table, and two levels of decks. There are also three kayaks, a floating dock and a water slide, basketball court and double hammock. Please note that the animals are not kept at this property.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is located in a very rural area of Virginia, but 20 minutes away you will find all the shopping and restaurants you would find in an urban setting. The house occupies an entire point of land, surrounded by water on three sides so there is quiet, seclusion, privacy and lots of stars! Ten minutes away are a handful of restaurants and grocery stores, drug stores and an Urgent Care center. The location is very desirable due to its proximity to Historic Yorktown, Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. Loads of water activities abound, and a golfer's paradise is due west towards Williamsburg. The area is filled with the friendliest people you could hope to meet, many of whom have lived there for generations. Life is a bit slowpaced in Gloucester County, and everyone has time for a conversation if you are open to it!

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our home is located on a private point of land which overlooks Mobjack Bay, which opens up onto the Chesapeake Bay. This area is a paradise for boating, fishing, kayaking, bird watching, oystering, crabbing, sailing, and relaxing amid beauty. Nearby is historic Yorktown, sight of the American victory over the British. (sorry Brits :) 30 minutes away is a re-creation of the first settlement of Jamestown, complete with Indians and English settlers, and for even more of a taste of colonial American life, visit the wildly popular Colonial Williamsburg. Kings Dominion, a huge amusement park, is about an hour away, and Busch Gardens is even closer. Virginia Beach is an hour & a half away, for a real East Coast Beach experience with waves and a beach scene. Our home is located in a sleepy and super friendly county of southern Virginia; you will find a friend wherever you go! Just south a couple of miles, however, the pace picks up and you will find universities, larger shops etc.
