Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our comfortable two-story brick Georgian style home sits on a two-acre lot on a quiet street just outside of the towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill. It features three large bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a sunny family room with breakfast nook for casual dining, and a dining room that seats up to 10 people. Our screened porch opens onto a sun deck with barbecue grill. Other rooms include an art studio/TV room and music room with piano. There are three cable TV’s, DVD player, and computer with internet access. We have a large lawn in front and back, with adjoining vegetable and flower garden. A ping pong table, basketball and goal, fishing rods, croquet, badminton, and other sporting equipment are here for your use. We offer for exchange our five-passenger SUV. We only have one bicycle ourselves, but we have arranged for our home exchange guests to borrow bikes from a local bike co-op.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live in a quiet neighborhood, with our closest small town, Carrboro, about a mile away. Artsy and charming, Carrboro offers a wonderful Wednesday/Saturday Farmer's Market, supermarkets, and convenient shopping. Adjoining Carrboro, Chapel Hill is a cosmopolitan university town with many cultural and educational features usually found in much larger cities. Home to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is an especially interesting town for teenagers and college students, with people-watching a major sport. Our region— the Research Triangle of North Carolina — has often been voted “Best Place to Live in America” by national magazines.

Chapel Hill and Carrboro offer a large number of excellent restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries, comedy clubs, and other cultural resources. Recreational facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, walking/hiking trails, sports center, bowling alley, skating rink, tennis courts, public golf course, lakes, rivers, and state parks. All are within a one-half hour drive or less. Some popular summer activities include music festivals, arts and crafts fairs, rafting or canoeing on the Eno River, swimming and boating at Jordan Lake, fishing at University Lake, summer concerts in the park, and July Fourth Town Festival with fireworks. For more information about things to do, please see the website we have created for our home exchange partners https://sites.google.com/site/nctourisminfo/.

Central North Carolina is warm and green, with rolling hills. This is not a heavily congested region. There are several large towns and cities; however, the typical landscape is of large and small towns separated by farmland and forest.

Nearby Sights

Within easy reach for day and week-end trips are the beautiful beaches of eastern North Carolina, the Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina, the golf resorts of Southern Pines/Pinehurst (site of many major golf championships), Washington, D.C., Colonial Williamsburg (Virginia), historic Charleston (South Carolina), and amusement parks (Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens, and Carowinds).

Chapel Hill is served by the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
