Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

A contemporary mews house perfectly located close to the centre of medieval York, but in a quiet, secure area by the river. We have one parking space but the sites of this lovely old city can all be explored on foot.

Our house is part of friendly community of 14 houses and apartments. On the ground floor is a new, well equipped, modern kitchen with doors leading out into a small landscaped garden where there is seating and barbecue. A dining area leads via double doors into the sitting room with Smart TV and wifi.

On the first floor is the guest bedroom with a king size bed and ensuite bathroom with bath and separate shower. Next door is a large study with TV and books. There is room for a blow up bed if required.

On the top floor is a small study and the master bedroom with double bed, ensuite bathroom and a walk-in dressing room.

York is a wonderful city. York Minster and the city walls are just a few minutes walk away. We are equally close to the river. Use our bikes to cycle along its car-free cycleway. It is just ten minutes walk to the railway station where there are fast trains (2 hours) to London and Edinburgh. Regular trains to and from Manchester airport

Stroll into the city centre for a selection of good restaurants including the famous Betty's tearoom where you can take a classic afternoon tea. Take in a film at the Cityscreen cinema and enjoy a drink on their sunny terrace overlooking the river. Explore York's medieval buildings and ancient streets where there are individual and distinctive shops or have a day at the races. You may want to visit the Jorvik Viking Centre or the National Railway Museum and kids will love the York Dungeon and the Castle Museum. All of them are within easy reach of our house.

We also have a second home, a seaside cottage on the coast in a traditional fishing village and artists colony just 90 minutes drive from York near Whitby. Have a look at our other entry and combine Staithes and York for a contrasting two centre holiday.
