Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Come and stay in our comfortable and well equipped victorian house in an historic village on the edge of the beautiful North York Moors National Park and close to the city of York.
Our house is about 130 years old and sits in an pretty village. We moved here three years ago and have completely restored it to make a cosy, comfortable and well equipped family home and garden. Downstairs is a spacious kitchen and dining area where we spend much of our time cooking, eating and chatting or just watching the birds in the garden. French doors lead out onto the terrace and garden where you will also find the garden room which used to be a blacksmiths forge. The lounge is comfy with sofas, a wood burning stove and TV and plenty of books to flick through. Upstairs are three double bedrooms and a lovely bathroom with shower and a luxurious big bath.
The house sits on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and three other National Parks (Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Peak District, Northumberland) are all within a couple of hours. The beautiful Yorkshire Coast with beaches, cliffs, nature reserves and old fishing villages is close too. Castle Howard, Rievaulx Abbey, Fountains Abbey and Whitby are a few of the wonderful historic sites close at hand and, if you are feeling more active there is mountain biking, hiking, surfing, kayaking and much more to keep you occupied and there are lots of lovely walks straight from the house. York, one of the UKs finest historic cities is about 40 minutes away and offers offers culture, restaurants, cinemas, theatre and shops in a fabulous setting.
We can offer car swap and pet care if needed, but we can make separate arrangements for our lovely little dog, Luna, if that is preferred.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
York is about 40 minutes away and its a wonderful city, lively and historic, packed with shops, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, museums, the minster and more.
The beauty of the area has led to it being the backdrop to many a film or television series. If you have ever watched Heartbeat, Aidensfield Village is actually Goathland in the North York Moors. The steam railway station at Goathland features as Hogwarts station in Harry Potter and Castle Howard was the location for Brideshead revisited.
Kirkbymoorside is a busy little market town with shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and a street market every wednesday. It is a happy, friendly place and visitors will be made to feel very welcome.
