Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

A beautiful, fully-featured stables conversion, offering top quality luxury accommodation for two people in the heart of the Dorset countryside, close to the village of Furzehill. With its arched entry, floors and vaulted ceiling in traditional English oak, it's comfortable and solid, yet light and airy. The building is effectively one storey, with a mezzanine bedroom accessed via a spiral staircase. With a wood-burning stove for winter, and a courtyard garden for summer, it's the perfect base for couples who seek a quiet time exploring the beautiful Dorset land- and sea-scape.

Dorset has a great deal to offer its visitors. We are at the centre of Thomas Hardy's rural Wessex region, an area full of historic interest. The ancient cathedrals of Salisbury, Winchester, and Exeter are within easy reach, as is Stonehenge, King Arthur's Round Table (at Winchester, once the capital of England), Corfe Castle, Stourhead, the New Forest National Park, and Nelson's flagship, HMS Victory (at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard). The beautiful Jurassic coastline, a World Heritage Site with its stunning cliffs and quiet beaches, is very close at hand; the Isle of Wight is a short ferry trip from Southampton.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Our home is down a quiet country lane, so you'll need to have some form of transport to see everything that's available in the region. If you like to walk or ride a bike, Wimborne is less than two miles away - we often walk it. Bikes, especially e-bikes if you have them, will allow you to explore some beautiful countryside to the East, West and North. If you want to cut down on car use, public transport from Wimborne will take you South to Poole and Bournemouth. The pubs ('bars") listed are all in easy walking distance.
